South Woodstock

SOUTH WOODSTOCK — Brrrr, it's only 18 degrees here this evening (Friday), although we had a nice sunny day here in the Oxford Hills area. I am so looking forward to the days getting longer and warmer as we go thru the next few weeks.

Congratulations to our granddaughter Carol Marie Stubbs and Christopher Owen on the birth of a son, Reese Michael Owen - the first New Year's baby to be born at Stephens Memorial Hospital. Reese weighed in at six pounds and four ounces, was 19 1/4 inches long and was born at 4:03 p.m. on January 4. Reese joins an older brother, James.

It was so nice seeing Stacia Cordwell and her two beautiful nieces at the restaurant last week, they had been bowling and stopped by to catch a bite to eat. I always enjoy seeing Stacia, Karen and their mom, Faye whenever we are in town at the same time.

We drove to Poland to visit our friends Bev and Joey this afternoon. We always enjoy taking rides on beautiful days to stop and visit friends.

Stopped by to visit our friend Juanita at the nursing home Wednesday, also to visit Peggy, but she was resting so we didn't wake her.

Thursday we took a ride to Jay to visit with our beloved friend, Benny Benedetto, taking him some goodies to enjoy. We then met up with Dick Moreau to discuss some upcoming engagements we are working on, again it was a great sunny day to just take a ride to meet up with friends. Our dear friend Benny will turn 92 years young on January 15. He is the bass player for our group.

"Lolalee" & The Country Bandits will be entertaining for the residents at Market Square Health Center on Wednesday, January 19.

Yogi and I want to thank all of those who remembered us over the Christmas holiday with your many cards, e-mails, phone calls, visits and gifts.

Not much snow left on the lawn, between the wind and nice sunny days it's been taking a lot of the snow away.

Quote of the week: "One man has enthusiasm for 30 minutes, another for 30 days, but it is the man who has it for 30 years who makes a success of his life."
