Mechanic Falls news

MECHANIC FALLS - Thanksgiving is over. So is Black Friday and hopefully, if you've partaken in Consumerism Fever, you are happy with your amazing deals and incredible savings. I am apparently one of the few party poopers who avoid the mad rush down store aisles like the running of the bulls frantically searching for a microwave oven on sale for three dollars. I would love to shop in a store full of amazing deals and incredible savings too, I just don't like doing it with the entire population of central Maine there with me. Don't get me wrong here, I love people. It's when normal ordinary folk go insane for the sake of a set of matching towels that makes me say: "Ah, no."

This is a short column as I am traveling with family for the holidays. To me it's all about the table: the dinner table, the buffet table, the snack table. There I find people I love, along with good conversation, story telling and memory building. Sharing food around any table with friends and family is enough for me, which reminds me to remind you about the Slowly Becoming Famous Roast Beef Community Supper being held on Saturday, December 4 at the Mechanic Falls Historical Society, located in the former Congregational Church on Elm Street. The supper is from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. and the cost is $7 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.

E-mail me at mitsou7@msn.com. I'd love to share your story.
