SOUTH WOODSTOCK - November 11, Veterans Day, 3 p.m. What a beautiful warm sunny day and 52 degrees.

Just a last minute reminder that the Down East Country Music Association will be holding a Country Show and Dance at the Silver Spur on November 21 from 12 noon to 5 p.m. Proceeds from this show will benefit the Maine Country Music Hall Of Fame Fund. Admission is $6 per person. Food will be available and there will be a 50/50 drawing and raffles. For more information contact Jackie@793-888 comeon down4. Music will be provided by several Maine performers, including Lolalee and George DeWitt. So dust off your boots and put on your hat and come on down.

The Down East Country Music Association held their Annual Pioneer & Legends Memorial Awards show last Sunday at the Silver Spur. The 2010 Pioneer recipient was Bill Giasson of Lewiston. The deceased Pioneer for 2010 was our own Dean Brackett (who lost his battle with cancer earlier this year).

The Bill Clements Memorial Award Recipient was WOXO radio DJ Jay Phillips of Norway.

The Evans Fitch Memorial Award recipient went to Howard Allen of Bridgton/Florida.

The Lenny Breau Memorial Award recipient was Country Jim Palmer of Corinna.

The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to our own Arthur (Benny) Benedetto of Jay. The Lucienne Giasson Memorial (Unsung Hero )Award recipient was Donna Palmer of Corinna.

The Yodeling Slim Clark Memorial Award was presented to Juanita Graves of Corinna.

It was a great day for a great show and many attended to support not only their favorite award winners but to support the Down East Country Music Association. There were several other awards presented but don’t want to bore you by listing them all.

A spot has been staked out for the new garage that’s going up –that will be nice to be able to keep the vehicles under cover in bad weather.

Received a phone call from my niece a bit ago - we talked for about 45 minutes, so now back to getting the news completed.
