BRYANT POND — Sunday services at the Baptist Church are Sunday School at 9:15 a.m., morning Worship at 10:30 a.m. and evening service at 6 p.m. On Wednesday, the Prayer Meeting is at 6:30 p.m. A Thanksgiving Eve service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on November 24.
Judith Grover Tent 17, Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, met at the home of Alice Hoyt on Monday, November 8. Senior Vice President Michelle Cary served as chaplain, A.J. Cary served as guide and first nomination of officers was held. It was reported that Elsie and Sally had a table at the school craft fair for the Woodstock Veterans’ Monument. Items were brought for the Togus Veterans Home for Christmas and money was also sent. It was reported that Vicki Myers is gaining and a card was sent to her. Alice Hoyt got the mystery package. 15 calls were reported. The next meeting will be a Christmas party with a tasting party and exchange of gifts.
Curator Larry Billings has given a large print to the Historical Society. The Society Museum has many prints and paintings and there is an art gallery on the second floor. There are also some art books in the research library.
The Society looks forward to a successful year and hopes you will join and contribute to that success. Your participation would be valued highly. You will be warmly welcomed at a Society meeting.
Bryant Pond is fortunate to have the Historical Society Museum. Woodstock people and visitors as well enjoy the exhibits the museum offers. It also has research material.
The Society has a few items you could use as Christmas gifts and especially consider Ruby Emery’s “Hamlin’s Gore” for only $20.
Bryant Pond is a lovely little town with friendly people and great scenery. Do visit.
On November 6, Mary Billings had a surprise 90th birthday party at the Crosstone Restaurant at Mollyockett Motel. She was honored by the Town of Woodstock, Grange and family and friends. The family purchased a brick for Mary to mark the occasion which will be placed on the common with others in the spring. Around 50 people attended and Mary enjoyed visiting with the people at the party.
The rope broke on the flag at the honor roll, and if anyone knows where the flag is, please let me know at 665-2460.
A very nice Veterans Day program was held at the American Legion Hall in Locke Mills. It seemed like a bigger crowd than usual. A flag retirement ceremony was held also.
