WEST PARIS — Ring-McKeen Post 157 American Legion and Auxiliary will again host a Veterans Day parade and program honoring our servicemen and women on Thursday, November 11. Line up will be at 10:30 a.m. at the Agnes L Gray School and march to the Veterans’ Memorial Park at the corner of Maple and Main streets for an 11 a.m. ceremony.
Pastor Lloyd Waterhouse and Pastor Scott Randolph will be joining us as will the Boy and Girl Scouts, Bobcat Twirlers, the Pathfinders from Forestdale School and the Agnes L. Gray School elementary students.
The following program will be held at the Veterans’ Memorial: Salute to the American flag and sing “The Star Spangled Banner,” Pastor Lloyd Waterhouse will give the opening prayer followed by an address of the day, Emery Ryerson’s prayer by widow Cleo Ryerson, “World War I, a Memory” by Bertha DeHaas, closing prayer given by Pastor Scott Randolph of the West Paris Baptist Church and in closing the joining of hands and singing “God Bless America.”
If it storms, we shall simply meet at the monument at 11 a.m. and not march.
The West Paris Baptist Church will again put on a Thanksgiving dinner at the church at noon on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 25. For more information, call 674-3046.
Let’s introduce you to the “new kids” in town. That’s right, “Kids Individualized Dynamic Service” is fashioned with today’s youth in mind. It’s a great way to help your kids understand the best-selling book of all time, while taking part in a fun-filled 90 minutes with others their own age in a safe environment. Pastor Scott Randolph and his wife Jenny have recently joined the community of West Paris as pastor of the West Paris Baptist Church. Along with their family and a crew of seasoned veteran youth leaders for Word of Life youth groups, they are offering programs tailored for the age of your child. Our church has an Olympian program for grades 1 to 6 and a teen program for grades 7 to 12. For both groups the doors are open from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Many adults may have memories of their own Word of Life group whether it was the all night Superbowl or a week at the Word of Life Camp in New York. The leaders at West Paris Baptist Church are looking forward to working with your children in the same fun atmosphere. Please contact Pastor Scott Randolph at 674-3205 with any questions you may have about either the youth group or times for regular church services for the whole family.
