South Woodstock

SOUTH WOODSTOCK — Good afternoon dear readers. It’s a bright sunny day with beautiful blue skies and the temps in the middle 40s, but the wind is fiercely blowing. The monitor heater in the summer room has made it nice to sit out here on cool days and evenings.

It was so great seeing my friend Louise Willey at Walmart today. We got a chance to chat for a few minutes. I’m so glad to see her out and about and doing the things she likes doing after her long bout with illness and having to spend several days in the hospital.

Shirley Brackett rode with us to Corinna Saturday; we all attended the funeral services of Ginger Mae Dyer, who passed away last month.

Our son Craig and his fiancé April and grandson Spencer joined us for supper last Saturday evening. I made hot biscuits to serve and the kids brought cole slaw and cottage cheese. Then Spencer told us we had to drive down to their house to have warm cake and tea. It was a great time and it’s always good spending time with them.

Am hoping for a good sunny weekend so I can get my clothesline up.

Condolences to the families of Kenneth L. Reed and Robert K. Knight. Love and prayers to each family on the loss of their loved ones.

I am so enjoying all of the spring flowers and budding of the poplar and birch trees. The lawns are truly greening up after all that rain we had last Sunday and Monday.

Betty Davis, Marie Dyke and I enjoyed some time together last Thursday. We all gathered at Denny’s in Auburn for lunch then we joined the band members so as to entertain the residents for the afternoon.

Birthday wishes are going out to Maxine Libby, Carol Marie Stubbs Owen, Donna Palmer, Craig Moore, Lorri Wilson, Melvin Young, Becky Pelletier, Norm D., Glendon H., and to those who are celebrating your birthdays in May.

Get well wishes to those who have not been feeling up to par these days. Our prayers are with you for a very speedy recovery.

Down East Country Music Association will be holding their membership meeting on Sunday, May 6 at the Silver Spur in Mechanic Falls at 12 noon. There will be election of officers for the 2012-2013. For more information, contact Jackie at 793-8884.

Well, dear readers, that’s all from the valley this week. Have a great weekend and enjoy the great spring weather.

Quote of the week: “It is never too late to admit you were wrong and to fess up to the real truth.”
