South Woodstock

SOUTH WOODSTOCK — A great sunny spring morning this a.m., 47 degrees with blue skies and an occasional puffy white cloud passes by.

The weatherman is saying we are in for a few days' rain and that should help immensely with cutting down on forest fires and bring much needed rain for the gardens and wells and to help green up the lawns and pastures.

Condolences are going out to the families of Chris H. Stevenson, Madelyn R. Purington, Elaine Curtis, Yvonne DeShon Whittemore, Elizabeth(Betty) Prince and John C. Ladd. Love and prayers to each family member on the recent loss of their loved ones.

Our Sundays have been busy with country shows the past several weeks and another country show this week in Naples.

We finally got the ceiling fan up in the summer room and had the chance to use it this past week when the temperature was in the high seventies, low eighties. Thanks, Matt - greatly appreciated.

We spent some time with our son Craig and his fiancé April last Saturday afternoon. Racing, ya know - these guys just can not get enough of it.

We always enjoy our time spent with the kids and grandkids.

Last Saturday Nick and Craig came to pick up the large cabinet I had and no longer needed. It sure looks nice in their living room; glad they were able to use it.

I am so looking forward to getting my seeds planted. I picked up a box of hummingbird mixture and butterfly mixture and am anxious to see how well these flowers attract them.

I put out an orange so the Orioles will stop by. Also hung my hummingbird feeder out, hoping this warmer weather will bring them early this year.

The motorcyclists are truly enjoying these great days and warm evenings. And I so enjoy listening to the peepers every night. I am hoping that my bleeding hearts will blossom this year; they were so beautiful last summer.

Well, dear readers, that’s all from the valley this week and it’s time for me to get this into the office, as I want to get some outdoor time in today. Please stay well, have fun and enjoy every day to the fullest.

Quote of the week: “It is never too late to admit you were wrong and to 'fess up to the truth.”
