Lovell news

LOVELL — Hi, folks. I am rusty from writing a column so bear with me and I promise to do my best for our town.

If anyone in Lovell has any news, fundraisers, Scout, school, library or church news, someone calling on someone or birthdays or anniversaries, please call me at 925-1800. If I don’t answer, my machine will pick up on the fourth to sixth ring. Due to my battling breast cancer, I’m not always home, but my appointments are dwindling down so you can call anytime from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. any day.

First of all, I would like to thank my friends, the church, Ladies Circle, Sunday School and family for all their prayers and support given to me during my surgery October 19, through the present day. Prayers and support have helped me get through the last two and a half months since my breast cancer diagnosis. Thanks to Lorraine Craig for the yummy meals and desserts she sent up. It was a good, welcomed gift she gave. Also thanks to Mike Welch and the Severance Lodge Club (Russell’s employer) for their cards, prayers, phone calls and donations that we received. Everyone has been so good to Russell and me both. I mustn’t forget my Aunt Letta Lovejoy and husband for flowers and the calls from far away.

Now for some news.

Boy Scout Troop 155 meets every Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. All boys ages 12 to 18 may join by calling Bob Elliot at 925-1272. The meetings are held at the Lovell United Church of Christ in Center Lovell. They are planning a cabin camping and Scouting activities the weekend of January 14 to 16. They also are holding a Crime Prevention this whole month where a past Eagle Scout, now policeman from North Conway, NH, will be doing a presentation. Coming up in February, they will be tubing. More on that when all the details are in. So come on, let’s join the Scouts, boys!

The Girl Scout Troop 58 is continuing its bottle drive for upcoming activities. All returnables can be dropped off at the Lovell United Church of Christ or at Woitko’s Redemption Center on McNeil Road in North Fryeburg.

From January 10 to January 30, all Girl Scouts are selling those yummy cookies. So let’s help our girls by buying a box.

Russell has been fixing our bathroom and it looks good.

Callers at the house this last weekend were Joseph Lang who spent the night with us. Heather Lang and our Kevin came by also as well as the visiting nurse, Anne Price.

Paul Walker is still a resident of the Bridgton Health Care Center and enjoys cards from people in town.

Let’s not forget our shut-ins, elderly, etc. and give them a call or send a note. It will bring a smile to them, cheer them up and it’ll make you feel good too. Don’t forget Wilma Taylor and Juanita Perkins at Market Square Heath Care and Norway Rehab as well.

That’s all for this week. Hope to have more news and updates for you each week. Till then, God bless you and stay well as the flu has been going around.
