NPFG Fishing Derby


NORWAY - The Norway-Paris Fish & Game Association annual Fishing Derby was held February 27 and 28. Derby chair Jim Alberi said that although the finial numbers were not ready Sunday afternoon, the derby was very successful this year. Several people gathered at the Little Red School House on Norway Lake at sunset Sunday for the announcement of winning fish and the drawing of consolation prizes as well as the 50/50.
     Derby winners for 2010 are: Brook Trout - Paul Cox, two pounds 12 ounces, 17 3/4 inches; Brown Trout - Sam Bryan, two pounds eight ounces, 17 3/4 inches; Togue - Paul Ward, four pounds seven ounces, 21 1/2 inches; Jr. Togue - Logan Day, one pound four ounces, 17 inches; Bass: Bryce Walker, seven pounds seven ounces, 23 inches; Jr. Bass - Alex Mowatt, three pounds 12 ounces, 17 inches; Salmon - Jason Woodsum, three pounds one ounce, 23 inches; Jr. Salmon - Cyrena Cox, two pounds one ounce, 19 inches; Pickerel - Shawn Kenny, three pounds one ounce, 23 inches; Jr. Pickerel - Denali Barker, one pound 14 ounces, 20 1/2 inches and Rainbow Trout - Denali Barker, two pounds eight and a half ounces, 19 1/2 inches. Denali's rainbow was the overall rainbow trout winner.
     The winner of the "other species" category was Louis Senecal IV with a white perch, eight and a half ounces, 10 inches.
     Winners of the consolation prizes were: L.L. Bean spinning rod outfit, Wendy Ayotte; L.L. Bean backpacks, Bob Brackett, Harry Vanderweide and Gary Merrill; Oxford 250 tickets, Jason Short; Camping at Black Brook Cove Campground, Gordon Wilson; Two nights stay at Dad's Trailside B&B, David Rose; Dozen streamer flies, Mike Small and Roger Day; Little Man Ice Fishing Traps, Dale Lowzier and Faith Morris and Spinning Rod, Bruce Wright. The 50/50 winner was David Day.
     The club would like to thank all those who sold tickets and volunteered their time.
