Nordic Ski Day was a great success

NORWAY — Thanks to the generosity of private ski trail owners, the Western Foothills Land Trust has been sponsoring an annual Nordic ski day in February for well over a decade. This year, the Trust was able to invite the community to ski the nearly completed, newly groomed trails at its own Roberts Farm Preserve. Snow conditions for February 5 had built up perfectly thanks to the significant storm on the second. Ken Gammon and Bob Van Nest groomed the system for the event. Temperatures were comfortable and the parking area was busy all day with skiers and snowshoers. Most were local and loyal supporters of the trails, but the trust also made several new members.
Bob Del Cuore completed the railing on the last bridge on the C.A. Stephens trail for the event.
The need to get the warming hut (designed by local timber framer Shawn Kane) funded and built for 2012 is apparent, as is the need to complete another 2.5k of the planned beginners trail.
