Annual Powder Puff game at OHCHS great fun
OXFORD HILLS – Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School's (OHCHS) annual Powder Puff game kicked off at 3 p.m. Wednesday, November 10. The Powder Puff game was run by the OHCHS Student Council in order to raise money, and it definitely attracted some attention. Boys on the varsity football team at OHCHS organized the girls into two different teams to play against each other.
The two teams were named Victorious Secret and Buck Wild. Victorious Secret held onto its early lead and beat the Buck Wilds in a 12 - 6 win.
The game was very competitive in the cold windy weather but it didn't seem to stop the girls from playing hard. It became really rough when Buck Wild girls didn't have much time left on the clock and needed a touchdown to tie the game. As hard as the girls tried though, they weren't able to score that last touchdown.
Many attended the game to cheer the two teams on and kept up the atmosphere of high energy from the beginning of the game to the end. Ashley West, a player on Buck Wild, really enjoyed playing.
“It was a lot of fun and I thought both teams played well,” she said.
The Student Council also sold cupcakes, fudge, and cookies at the game. Powder Puff games are played every year after the fall sports season when the girls at OHCHS come together, make teams, and play against each other in a football game.
