Middle School ski team results released

LOCKE MILLS — The Oxford Hills Middle School Alpine Ski Team raced "under the lights" at Mt. Abram on their January 14th Giant Slalom meet. Christopher Burns placed second out of all male racers and Miranda Murphy placed fifth out of all female racers.

With return racers and new racers, the OHMS team members are all "carving" together with Coach Laurie Rodrigue. The team has practiced at Mt. Abram before but still, each team member's run is always a challenge - whether they are trying to beat their last time, trying to fine-tune their skills and/or hoping they don't miss a gate or catch an edge. They are working very hard during that quick 30-second, more or less, time frame. As spectators watch them race, just a few feet away from the course, it is amazing how quickly the race comes to an end; however, the good news is, there is another meet.

OHMS raced on to Titcomb Mtn. for another Giant Slalom on January 19.

The girls' team took third and out of all female racers, placed as follows: Sarah Klein 4th, Annika Kahkonen 13th, Miranda Murphy 16th, Tayla Roberts 29th, Julia Dillon 31st, Eva Gabrielson 33rd and Ellen Bessette 34th.

The boys' team took sixth and out of all male racers, placed as follows: Jacob Doyon 39th, Christian Ricci 46th and Cullen Littlewood 55th.
