New outdoor center to participate in Winter Trails Day

NEWRY — This winter, the new Sunday River Outdoor Center will participate in the 16th annual Winter Trails Day on Saturday, January 8, by offering free cross country ski rentals, snowshoe rentals and trail passes.

Winter Trails Day involves almost 100 resorts and nordic centers nationwide, and gets over 11,000 kids and adults on the snow each year.

"Winter Trails Day provides an exciting opportunity for Sunday River to showcase its new Outdoor Center and trail system," Carol Bourque, Sunday River Outdoor Center Manager, says. "We look forward to many people participating since it's an event anyone can join."

The Sunday River Outdoor Center opened its trails for the first time this season on Monday, December 27, after receiving over a foot of new snow. There are currently 20 kilometers open for classic cross country skiing and 30 kilometers open for skate skiing.

Located on the Sunday River Access Road at the entrance to the resort, the Sunday River Outdoor Center is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
