  • Bryant Pond

    BRYANT POND — Sunday services at the Baptist Church are Sunday School at 9:15 a.m., Morning Worship at 10:30 a.m. and Evening Service at 6 p.m. Prayer meeting is at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

    Tuesday, November 27, will be a ladies meeting at 9 a.m. for "coffee cup decorations." Looking ahead, there will be a meeting at 10 a.m. on December 1, to decorate the church for the Christmas season.

  • North Norway

    NORTH NORWAY — Have been busy this morning places orders via the internet, my way of going shopping on Black Friday. I do not like the term black Friday and all too many of us go into the red on this day.

    Are you getting all those “Robo" calls? Have decided we have to develop diabetes so we can qualify for all that “free” stuff they insist on offering us. Have told them we have various ailments but diabetes is not among them.

    Franklin Grange 124 met on Monday, November 5, for a regular meeting at the Grange Hall. It was voted to hold one meeting a month during December, January and February.

  • Norway Town Hall

    NORWAY — Dog licenses are in; please license your dogs by December 31.

    The Town Office will be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 22 and 23, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

    The Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade is starting in Norway this year, so don’t miss it! On Saturday, November 24, at 11 a.m. the parade will step onto Main Street from Whitman Street and proceed toward South Paris. So Main Street will be closed for the parade just before 11 a.m. instead of around 1 p.m.

    SOUTH WOODSTOCK — Friday, November 9. Condolences to the family of Jennie V. Kilponen. Prayers to each family member on the loss of your loved one.

    Brrrrr...the wind is blowing a gale here today, the temp. is only 45, the sun is so nice streaming through the windows and warming the house.

    NORWAY — The first half of Norway taxes are due Tuesday, November 20. You can now pay your taxes online! A new feature the town has added for your convenience. Go to www.norwaymaine.com; near the bottom of the list on the left side you will see the phrase "pay taxes online." This will walk you through the process.

    NORTH NORWAY — The barometer is still low after the big storm. Waiting for it to rise and the sun to shine. Our hearts go out to all those who were devastated by this storm.

    Thankful we do not live in a high rise in a big city. So many people lost their homes and it grows colder with no heat or power to those who still have homes.

    We had an AARP meeting Monday and heard a report on the food drive. All you volunteers did good. We gathered over 11 hundred pounds of food and delivered it to the Food Pantry.

    The Whitman Memorial Library program is today, November 8, at 2 p.m. Suzanne Dunham will talk on "Honey Bees and Other Pollinators." She will describe to us the practice and mystery of beekeeping and the importance of honeybees and other pollinators to us and our environment.

    SOUTH WOODSTOCK — Condolences are going out to the families of Lorelei Silver Cooper, Thompson W. Moore, Sr., Marilyn Morgan and Estella T. Richardson. Our thoughts and prayers to each family member.

    Brrr, it's a very cool and windy Saturday morning here...42 degrees and sunny. A good day for line drying clothes.

    Hubby is off to town to do a couple of errands for me while I get a load of wash done.

    My beans are on cooking for supper tonight, to go with some hot biscuits and hot dogs.
