Towns

  • South Woodstock

SOUTH WOODSTOCK — Brrrr - it’s minus one degrees here at 4 a.m.(Friday, January 25) - the wind has finally died down some and not howling like it was all evening.

I so hope you are all dressing in layers so as to keep toasty warm as you spend time outdoors. I do not go out in this bitter cold weather unless I absolutely have to, doctor’s appointments and booking dates are a must so I have to venture out.

  • Norway Town Hall

NORWAY — Please remember to license your dog(s). A late fee of $25 will be added to the license cost if the dog is not registered by January 31. All dogs six months of age or older must be licensed.

Licenses expire December 31 and must be renewed yearly. You must bring a State of Maine Rabies Vaccination Certificate with you as well as a spay/neuter certificate if applicable. Fees are $6 if the dog is spayed/neutered and $11 if not spayed/neutered.

  • North Norway

NORTH NORWAY — It’s a cold, cruel world out there. I was standing in the lobby waiting for an elevator yesterday, shivering and freezing and a lady waiting with me said, “You need long johns, tops and bottoms.”

I could not but agree with her. Never saw her before but she evidently is prepared for anything. Haven’t owned any long johns for some years but by golly, I am going to get some soon. They tell me swim suits are on the racks now so probably winter clothes are all gone.
