Mechanic Falls news
Jan 06, 2011 12:01 amMECHANIC FALLS — I am in a Christmas coma, which means I am unable to move from a curled up position on the couch. This happens every year, usually two days after the holiday. I start reading the latest book I received for Christmas and that’s it. My body begins morphing into the shape of the sofa and I go deaf to the pleas of teenagers complaining that molasses chews are the only chocolates left in the Whitman’s Sampler.

Mechanic Falls news
Dec 22, 2010 12:01 amMECHANIC FALLS — Once upon a time in the 21st century people shopped in box stores with names like "Everything In Here, Except The Cashier, Costs a Dollar" and "Made in China, Including The Christmas Tree, Shop." Every day the masses would make pilgrimages to these stores because if they didn't the economy would collapse. The world at that time was gripped by the Tyranny of What If? What if the mortgage doesn't get paid? What if a loved one gets deployed? What if the neighbor next door who never comes out of the house is a terrorist?

Dec 22, 2010 12:01 amNORTH NORWAY — Dell is out scooping snow out of the yard. I am sitting here itching. I have stated out loud I wish I could find my Shea butter. Then I thought I better shut up because my Santa might be listening. I am sure he has no idea what it is and I am liable to find a pound of Land O' Lakes under the tree come Christmas morning as butter is butter to my Santa. This cold dry weather makes me itch and shea butter is good for that.
