Bryant Pond news
Jan 27, 2011 12:01 amBRYANT POND — I would like to start this column with a big thank you to all who have been praying, sending cards or visiting me while in the hospital and rehab. Also a bigger thank you to our grandson Ray Crockett and his cousin Grayson Wakefield for helping build my ramp so I could get home. It worked great. It's good to be home again, but I had very good care and therapy at Norway Rehab.

Mechanic Falls
Jan 20, 2011 12:17 amMECHANIC FALLS — I fell down. In the middle of downtown Mechanic Falls I dropped to all fours. I was returning home from Kathy's Diner with my two daughters on the day of the snowstorm. I thought it would be a good idea to walk to breakfast with my girls. The vision of a steaming cup of coffee in my hands kept me trudging forward in the wind and snow. I didn't anticipate the white stuff to be coming down sideways, but the air felt good in my lungs after a bout with pneumonia that kept me housebound for several weeks during the holidays.

Mechanic Falls news
Jan 13, 2011 12:02 amMECHANIC FALLS — Well, that January thaw we had lasted all of three days. Just in time to get the final Christmas decorations in from outside. Mechanic Falls has her ugly dress on. Don’t get all riled up about this, what I mean by this is it’s that time of year when the snow banks are blackened with dirt and the trees are shabbily shivering away in the arctic breeze. The salt-stained roads seem bleak and desolate. Cars have that winter coating of grime because it’s too cold to hit the car wash on the way home from work.
