Towns

  • Lovell

LOVELL — What a stormy weekend and Monday, February 28 was another day off from school.

Valerie Gendron left February 26, to visit relatives in Rhode Island. She came home March 1.

I thought on March 1 that spring is almost here and I wondered if we’d ever see the grass.

Jaimie, Julie and Kayla Pratt went to visit their father the last weekend in February, and came home Sunday.

  • Mechanic Falls

MECHANIC FALLS — Foodies, by definition, are people who are serious about food the way an artist is serious about paint on a canvas or a musician is serious about the right note and a lyric. Foodies take great delight in cooking the food and then eating it. Elitists tend to think foodies are confined to certain urban demographics like New York City or Seattle, or even Paris, France, but that isn't true.

  • South Woodstock

SOUTH WOODSTOCK — Condolences to the families of Claribel Poland, Warren Smith and Dickie Brown. Our love and prayers to each family member.

This is a very short column. I have been down sick since late Tuesday afternoon; yup, I ended up sharing Yogi's cold. I ended up three different nights with the fever. I look like I'd been in a fight with a pro fighter, my lips so swollen and blistered from the fevers.

Was not impressed with the snowstorm we got Friday. I want it to be spring.

  • Lovell

LOVELL — Hi folks. It was a wonderful day on February 17, sunny and warm. I saw lots of squirrels running around on the snow outside and the birds on the feeders seemed happier this day.

The Mollyockett Chorus will be in competition from May 12 to 15, in Springfield, MA. The ladies meet in Oxford, at the Church of the Latter-Day Saints of Jesus Christ on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. Anyone is welcome to join. They need new, good voices.

  • Norway Town Hall

NORWAY — The Norway Recreation Department and Norway Youth Baseball are teaming up to offer registration times for baseball, softball and Tee-ball. Join in at the Norway Town Office on Wednesday, March 9 from 5-6:30 p.m., Saturday, March 12 from 10 a.m. to noon or Wednesday, March 16 from 5-6:30 p.m.

All parents are asked to attend one of these times to obtain important information for their child’s athletic activity.

  • Lovell

LOVELL — Quite a snowy week and weekend recently but through it all things went on.

The Lovell United Church of Christ’s annual meeting was held after the worship. Committee meetings were held on February 14, the cabinet meeting was February 21, and the Ladies Circle meeting was on February 22, in the Halford Room at the church from 2 to 4 p.m. The Circuit Rider committee met on February 24, at 9 a.m. Let’s not forget Sunday School is at 9 a.m. and worship service is at 10:30 a.m. with a nursery provided. Come join in the fellowship and meet our new pastor, Alison Jacobs.

  • North Norway

NORTH NORWAY — This morning I have a "hitch in my git-a-long." Guess I should have known the weather was changing as it started yesterday and the wet weather most always affects my arthritis. Three more weeks of winter weather and one more significant snowstorm, that's my prediction. We'll see how I am at weather forecasting.

  • Norway Town Hall

NORWAY — The Norway Recreation Department kindergarten basketball program starts March 1. Registration forms are at the Town Office and on the website. A reminder to parents the ice skating program will extend to March 1 and the grade one basketball program will extend to March 2.
