Towns

  • Bryant Pond

BRYANT POND — Sunday services at the Baptist Church are Sunday School at 9:15 a.m., Morning Worship at 10:30 a.m. and Evening Service at 6 p.m.

April 16 will be spring cleaning day starting at 9 a.m. for all who are able to help.

  • Mechanic Falls

MECHANIC FALLS — I'm going to a wedding in April and, no, it's not the wedding everybody's talking about across the Pond. The wedding I'm going to will take place in a small unassuming church in rural Maine. I have no idea who designed the bride's dress and I'm not privy to what mode of transportation she and the groom will be using after the ceremony. As far as I can tell there won't be a parade through Mechanic Falls with the couple encased in a horse drawn carriage followed by paparazzi sneaking the elbow jab to someone's rib cage to snag the perfect photo.

  • South Woodstock

SOUTH WOODSTOCK — Good sunny morning to ya'll. Although the air is a bit crisp it still is a great day just enjoying all that great sunshine.

Condolences to the families of Glenna Hewey, Pamela Conkright, John G. Judd and Donold E. Haines. Love and prayers to each family.

Birthday wishes to Ginny Brown and Bobby Walker who both are celebrating their birthdays today. Wishing you both a very happy day on this special day of yours.

A reminder: a person who owns a shack or temporary structure used for ice fishing may not leave or allow the shack or structure to remain on the ice of any inland waters after April 1.

  • North Norway

NORTH NORWAY — Sister Pat had a birthday this week. Her sons, Deven and Tony, celebrated with her by bringing dessert Wednesday night. Judi, Cheri and Errol were there also and they had a nice visit. Thursday, Mary, Pat and I went to Maurice's for lunch for further celebration. We are of an age where we need to celebrate each year we put behind us and the coming year also.

  • Bryant Pond

BRYANT POND — Sunday services at the Baptist Church are Sunday School at 9:15 a.m., Morning Worship at 10:30 a.m. and Evening Service at 6 p.m. The pie contest for men and women is at 5 p.m. on March 26.

  • Mechanic Falls

MECHANIC FALLS — My kids grew up watching "Sesame Street." The real one, where Oscar the Grouch is grouchy for real, and the Cookie Monster eats cookies, not some carb-less snack that purports to ward off the obesity epidemic, but tastes like lint. Anyway, it was educational television and I was able to get the breakfast dishes done. I figured I was doing the right thing; the kids were learning their ABC's in English and Spanish. Then, one day I woke up and I had five kids, not two. It became increasingly challenging to coordinate nap time and feeding time and play time.

  • South Woodstock

SOUTH WOODSTOCK — Condolences to the families of Doryce Green and Charles Stenger, Jr. Love and prayers to each family member.

  • Lovell

LOVELL — At 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, at the Riverside Church in Center Conway, NH, William (Billy) Drew and Tamsen Bryant O’Neil were married at a nice, quaint family ceremony. Billy is the son of George and Linda Ring Drew of North Fryeburg, and Tamsen is the daughter of Roger and Roberta Bryant and the late Patricia Eastman Bryant of Lovell. The couple resides at the farm on Sabattus Road.

After the wedding, Bill and Tam and Bill’s sister and husband took cake and ice cream to their grandmother, Rebecca Ring.
