Aug 04, 2011 12:00 amBRYANT POND — Sunday services at the Baptist Church are Sunday School at 9:15 a.m., Morning Worship at 10:30 a.m. and Evening Service at 6 p.m. Prayer meeting is at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Vacation Bible School had a successful week and everyone enjoyed the church picnic at Arlene McKillop's on Saturday.
Sympathy is extended to the family of Philip Korhonen.

The Woodstock-Greenwood Senior Citizens will meet on Thursday, August 4, at the home of Gordon and Joan Morgan for a picnic. Bring a dish or sandwiches to share or a dessert. If you have an item of interest, bring it so that others may guess what it is or is used for.

Lovell Old Home Days will be over by the time you read this as it began July 15, with the pig and turkey roast and went through Saturday and Sunday, July 17, with the Lovell Historical Society’s antique show and live auction. Hope you attended it all and had a great time.
Pastor Alison Jacobs performed her first wedding on Saturday, July 90, since she became our pastor.

The program will run on Saturdays from 8-8:45 a.m. on September 10, 17 and 24 and October 1 at the Lovejoy Farm Sports Complex. The fee is $25 which includes a t-shirt and a soccer ball. Deadline to register is August 31. Registration forms can be found at the Norway Town Office and on www.norwaymaine.com.

Jul 28, 2011 12:00 amSUMNER — Sunday services at the West Sumner Baptist Church are Sunday School at 9:45 a.m., worship at 11 a.m. and evening service at 6 p.m. Prayer meeting is on Wednesday, at 7 p.m. Larry Thurlow is the pastor. We had our Sunday School picnic last Saturday. It was a hot day but that didn’t stop us from having fun playing croquet. A cookout with hamburgs, hot dogs, salads, chips and drinks was enjoyed by all.

Jul 28, 2011 12:00 amNORTH NORWAY — The thoughts I am having regarding deer right now are not fit to print. I suppose pride goeth before a fall but we were proud of our little pocket garden in front of the porch. The deer have nibbled all the blossoms and we have bare stalks sticking up. Twice Dell has gone out on the porch for the paper to confront two deer munching away, breakfasting on our flowers.

Jul 28, 2011 12:00 amSOUTH WOODSTOCK — Friday, July 22, now this is way too hot for me. Never in my life would I have ever dreamed of having weather like this here in Maine. The a/c is on and all the fans are going at high speed to keep the cool air circulating throughout the house.
Banjo Dan & the Mid-nite Plowboys will be appearing at Deertrees Theater on Friday the 29th at 8 p.m.
Condolences are going out to Harvey Lord and family on the recent passing of his wife Muriel. Our many thoughts, love and prayers are with each family member.
