  • Sumner

SUMNER — The Newton reunion was held Sunday, August 7, at Larry and Kendra Newton’s home. It was a rainy day which caused some people to stay away. There were people from Leeds, Turner, Buckfield, Pittsfield, Minot, Mechanic Falls and Sumner, making a total of 35. We all signed cards for two members who have illnesses, Janie Lucas and Charles Harris.

  • Sumner

SUMNER — The Sumner Mother’s Club met on July 27 at Wilda Dunham’s for its annual meeting and cookout. The following officers were elected: President Jodie Mauro, Vice President Julie Saunders, Secretary Wilda Dunham and Treasurer Pam Farrar. Buckfield, Hartford, Canton and Sumner share in the expenses of the swimming lessons held in Hartford. The Mother’s Club pays Sumner’s share. There will be a Pampered Chef party in August to help raise money for the projects the club does. They are always looking for new members.

  • Lovell

LOVELL — Here it is, August already. We will be seeing the yellow school buses go by and children waiting for them really soon. How time does fly.

Mark your calendars for August 14, for the Lovell Historical Society’s house tours from 1 to 4 p.m. and back to the Society at 5 p.m. for tea. Four homes will be toured locally in all.

Kevin Allen and fiancee Julie stopped by Sunday noon to see us. Kevin has been ill with pneumonia and was planning to go back to work on the first.

Virginia Weeks stopped by and visited me for awhile on July 29.

  • South Woodstock

A pair of fawn twins enjoying their time grazing just a few from my back door – so cute.

  • Mechanic Falls

MECHANIC FALLS — My husband and I have had the privilege recently of getting to know some new people and we've had fun spending time with them in their homes. I always enjoy seeing how other people live because it provides me with insight into their lives. Not to mention that I am a decorating and landscaping thief. Please don't misunderstand. I don't steal lawn ornaments or antique paintings. I steal ideas. I'm beginning to think I don't have an original, creative thought in my head.

  • North Norway

NORTH NORWAY — Time to do the laundry. Here I am all decked out in orange slacks and a yellow top. I expect to see myself in one of those videos of what not to wear to Wally World.

  • South Woodstock

SOUTH WOODSTOCK — Condolences are going out to the families of Les Thurlow and Phil R. Korhonen. Love and prayers to each family member. Your loved ones will be greatly missed by all who knew them.
