  • Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge news

    OXFORD — Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge Club met Friday at 9:15 a.m. in the rec. building on King St. in Oxford. A seven-table Mitchell movement was enjoyed.

    Finishing first in flight A n/s were Kathy Burden (Augusta) and Maryann Trafton (Waterville), who also were first in flight B. Finishing second in flight A were Mike Quinn (Otisfield) and Nick Karamessinis (New Gloucester); third were Dave Kallander (Harrison) and Les Buzzell (Auburn).

    SOUTH PARIS — Christian Women United will meet on Tuesday, June 21, at 11:30 a.m. for a luncheon at the First Congregational Church in South Paris. Naomi Fish from Auburn will be the speaker/singer.

  • Scouts offer babysitter training

    SOUTH PARIS — Girl Scouts is offering a “Babysitting 101” training program for all area girls in grades five through seven. The program will include getting your baby-sitting business started, playtime ideas for children of all ages, understanding the likes and dislikes of children, troubleshooting and solutions to the most common problems a baby-sitter faces and Babysitting 101 certification.

  • Scouts offer Lady Bug series

    WATERFORD — Join Girl Scouts and WREC this summer for a fun-filled six-week program in the Waterford area. The series is open to all girls in grades K-three and will be held once a week in the afternoon beginning the end of June through the first of August.

    SOUTH PARIS — The Oxford Hills Chapter of AARP will meet on Monday, June 13 at the First Congregational Church on E. Main Street, South Paris. Ham with potato salad, veggies and dessert are on the menu, with dinner being served at 12 noon. The cost is $6.50 and reservations are required by calling Ruth at 744-9069 by noon on Friday, June 10.

  • GOP meeting set

    NORWAY — The Oxford County Republican Committee will hold a special meeting on Tuesday, June 14, for the purpose of electing one representative from Oxford County to serve on the Maine Republican Party Platform (Standing Resolutions) Committee. The work of the Standing Resolutions Committee is extremely important, so please be sure to attend this month’s meeting to elect this representative or if you wish to serve on the Committee.

    WEST BETHEL — The Bethel Senior Citizens will meet on June 8, at 11 a.m. at the West Bethel Grange Hall. The menu is meat loaf and the price is $8. Reservations must be made by June 1, by calling Caroline Gould at 824-3226 or Arlene Lowell at 824-2877. The speaker will be Steven Seames.

  • OXFORD — Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge Club met Friday, May 27 at 9:15 a.m. at the Rec. building on King St. in Oxford. A five and a half table quarterly club championship Howell movement was enjoyed.

    Finishing first in flight A were Jim Krainin (Naples) and Milt McKeem (Bridgton), who also were first in flight B and C.

    SOUTH PARIS — Cub Scout Pack 130 would like to invite boys to join their growing Pack. Many good organizations and teams teach teamwork, skills, etc. However, Scouting's strength is based on a well-rounded program affecting every area of a boy's life.
