  • McDonald's® seeks nominations for award

    AUBURN — Organizers of the Maine McDonald's® High School Senior All-Star Basketball Games are seeking nominations for the 2011 Maine McDonald’s® Spirit of the Game Award. Two high school seniors – one from the East division, one from the West – will be honored during Maine McDonald’s High School Senior All-Star Weekend at Husson University in Bangor on March 11 and 12. The nomination deadline is February 16.

  • Snowshoe hike planned

    RUMFORD — The Mahoosuc Land Trust Winter Hiking Series continues with a snowshoe hike up Rumford Whitecap on Sunday, February 13.

    Winter gear and hiking poles are recommended for this moderately strenuous trek. Bring lunch and water. Meet in the parking area across from the trailhead on the East Andover Road, Rumford, ready to start at 9 a.m.

    Please register by calling the Mahoosuc Land Trust at 824-3806 or info@mahoosuc.org. Organizers want to know who is planning to hike in case of any last minute weather or condition changes.

  • Viking Cheerleaders headed for state championships

    OXFORD HILLS – On Saturday, the Viking Cheerleaders from the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School will be competing against 11 other teams throughout the state for the Class A trophy.

    According to Coach Debbie Loveless, the team has worked very hard to get to the states.

    “This year’s group of cheerleaders has been wonderful,” she said. “I can't say enough about them. They are hard working, they work together and help each other out and are outstanding young ladies.”

  • Snow tubing trip planned

    OXFORD — A snow tubing trip to Oxford Plains Tubing Park, sponsored and hosted by Harrison and Bridgton Recreation, will be held Wednesday, February 23. Cost is $16 and includes transportation and three hours of tubing; make checks payable to Town of Harrison or Town of Bridgton. Bring lunch and drinks.

    HEBRON — Hebron Academy boys' varsity hockey team hosted North Yarmouth Academy recently with a final score of Hebron 6 NYA 2.

  • OHCA wins over LFCA

    LAY UP — Oxford Hills Christian Academy junior Ben field does a fast break lay up and scores another of his 13 points during the January 13 home game, beating Lisbon Falls Christian Academy 26-16.
