    HEBRON — Hebron Academy boys' varsity basketball team hosted Kimball Union Academy recently with a final score of Hebron 36, KUA 61.

  • Hebron girls' hockey supports fight against cancer

    RUMFORD -- Area Youth Football of Rumford won a pair of title games in the Sandy Andy Football League Sunday at Hosmer Field.
    In the 3rd and 4th grade title game, the AYF Steelers defeated Mt. Blue Area Youth Football Bobcats, 30-14. The AYF Falcons prevailed in the 5th and 6th grade championship game beating MBAYF Giants 19-18.
    Final regular season standings in the 3rd and 4th grade division were: 1. Bobcats (6-0), 2. Steelers (5-1), 3. AYF Oilers (4-2), 4. Greenwood Spartans (2-4), 5. MBAYF Lynx (2-4), 6. AYS Bears (1-5), 7.
  • Snowshoe races slated at Roberts Farm

    NORWAY — The first annual Norway Exile Snowshoe 5 & 10k races will be held at Roberts Farm Preserve on Saturday, February 19, at 11 a.m. The race will be run on the 5k CA Stephens Trail. The event is named The Norway Exile race in honor of the site’s dairy farm past. John Roberts’ prize Jersey bull was named Norway Exile.

  • Filling buckets with respect at Jay Elementary

    JAY – Students at Jay Elementary School have focused on having respect for one another this fall, and the result has been an improved school atmosphere, said social worker Jen Stone.
    “We come to school to learn, but we need kids to be enthusiastic about learning,” she said. “We need to have them learn to have respect for their environment, such as picking up after themselves in the cafeteria, and respect for their classmates.
  • Ice fishing derby planned in Otisfield

    OTISFIELD — The New Outpost on Route 121 is sponsoring the Town of Otisfield Recreation Department ice fishing derby Saturday and Sunday, February 19 and 20.

    The derby is open to fishing on Thompson Lake and Pleasant Lake only. All fish must be weighed in at the New Outpost between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. The derby is open to all ages. Participants must sign up at the New Outpost and pay a $10 entry fee.

    WINNERS — The Oxford Hills Boys 9th Grade basketball team finished its season with a 7 and 9 record. Award winners for the year were Adam Kenney, front, far right, Offensive Player of the Year; Riley Chickering, front, second from right, Defensive Player of the Year. Coaches award went to Ben Morton, front, left. From left, front, Morton, Dylan Durgin, Walter Feeney, Ethan Child, Chickering and Kenney. Back, Coach Brian Cox, Dalton Rice, Dennis Sanborn, Nick Dyer and Caleb Fillebrown.

    OXFORD HILLS — The Pee Wee basketball team is in its second year. Oxford HIlls Girls basketball players volunteered their time on Sunday's to help three- to five-year-olds learn the game of basketball.
