WMVAC to sponsor golf tournament
Mar 24, 2011 12:00 amPOLAND — The Western Maine Veterans’ Advisory Committee (WMVAC) is planning a golf tournament for Wednesday, August 24, at the Fairlawn Golf Course in Poland. The tournament will use a scramble format. There will be a shotgun start at 10 a.m.
The tournament fee is $60 per player, and includes 18 holes of golf, use of a cart, a grab bag and banquet. Mulligans may be purchased in advance or on the day of the tournament for $5 each, maximum of two per player.
Man versus mountain challenge slated
Mar 17, 2011 12:21 amNEWRY — The 2011 Tough Mountain Challenge at Sunday River Ski Resort is scheduled for Saturday, July 23. The Tough Mountain Challenge, an outdoor obstacle race with 15 distinct challenges over three miles of alpine terrain starting in the South Ridge base area, is open to 500 participants. In addition to new obstacles, Sunday River is also adding two categories - one for teams of two and another for teams of four.

Harlem Superstarscoming to OHCHS

The tickets are $7 per person in advance or $8 at the door. This is a great family event and is sure to keep all ages laughing. Come out and have a fun night and help support the Oxford Hills Athletic Boosters.
Tickets can be purchased in advance at Bessey Motor Sales in Paris, Books-n-Things in Norway, Mallard Mart in Norway and the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School in the athletic department.

Mar 10, 2011 12:01 amSUMMER'S COMING! — Diane Crocker registers her granddaughter, Sydney Crocker, for the Norway Recreation Department Softball Program. The Norway Recreation Department and Norway Youth Baseball have teamed up to offer registration times for baseball, softball and Tee-ball. There are two registration times remaining, on Saturday March 12 from 10 a.m. to noon and Wednesday March 16 from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Norway Town Office. Parents need to attend one of these times to obtain important information.
NRA certified courses offered

Applications will be accepted Saturday, March 19 at Crystal Lake Spa in Harrison and Saturday, April 23 at Cabela's.

Mahoosuc Land Trust plans winter hike

Winter gear and hiking poles recommended. Bring snack/lunch and water. Meet in the parking area on Greenwood Road, Greenwood, ready to begin hike at 10 a.m.
Snowmobile Sledhead Mania to be held April 3
Mar 10, 2011 12:01 amGREENWOOD — The third annual Snowmobile Sledhead Mania will be held at its new location, Mt. Abrams Ski Resort, on Sunday, April 3 with new events. Registration is 7 to 9 a.m.; drivers' meeting is at 9 a.m. and races start at 10 a.m. This event is promoted by Maniac Entertainment and benefits the Wild River Riders. There will be antique sled track races and hill climb drags 73 and older - a blast from the past.
If you're out of stock, you can race but you cannot win. 78 or older leaf spring front end, pipe it out can run Maconies and studded, but has to be 440 or smaller.
