  • OPS gears up for weekend

    OXFORD — Mother Nature struck again this past weekend as rain and persistent mist forced the postponement of the Saturday's Fan Appreciation Night presented by 99.9 The Wolf.

    Fan Appreciation night has been rescheduled for Friday, May 27. Four Speedway divisions, the Late Models, Strictly Stocks, Mini Stocks and Oxford Outlaws, will kick off the season at a special starting time of 7:30 p.m.

    SOUTH PARIS — The following is the schedule for Oxford Hills youth summer basketball:

    Week 1, June 20-24 — Grades K-3, from 8 to 9 a.m. and Grades 4-8, from 9 a.m. to noon at Oxford Hills Middle School

    Week 2, June 27-30 — Grades K-12 from 8 to 9 a.m. at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School

    June 27-July 1 — Jimmy Hooker Green and Gold Camp for Grades 4-9, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School

    Week 3, July 5-8 — Grades K-3, from 8 to 9 a.m. and Grades 4-8, from 9 a.m. to noon at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School

  • British Soccer returning to Harrison

    HARRISON — Attention all youth soccer players in the Lake Region and Oxford Hills area: Challenger British Soccer returns to Harrison's RADR sports complex August 8-12. For ages six to eight, camp is a half day, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., and costs $108; for ages nine to 14, camp is also a half day, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., and costs $108; for ages three to five, First Kicks camp runs from 4 to 5 p.m. and costs $59.

  • ACT race at OPS postponed

    OXFORD — The American Canadian Tour event at Oxford Plains Speedway scheduled for Sunday, May 15 has been postponed until June 4. Knowing the forecast was for 100 percent chance of rain on Sunday, Oxford Plains Speedway owner Bill Ryan did not want teams and fans traveling great distances for the event in vain. "The ACT race has been rescheduled for June 4," Ryan added.
