  • Hebron varsity hockey defeats Kents Hill

    HEBRON — Hebron Academy boys' varsity hockey team hosted Kents Hill School recently with a final score of Hebron 3, Kents Hill 2.

    First period goals for Hebron were scored by Steve Donahue, unassisted, at 15:40; Mike Kelly, assisted by Raphael Blouin, at 11:05 and Austin Goldstein, unassisted, at 2:52. For Kents Hill, Caleb Fizer scored at 15:13, assisted by Jared Cockerel.

    In the third period, Filip Akermark scored at 0:22, assisted by Logan Day.

    Kents Hill goalie Ben Eddols had 33 saves on 36 shots; Hebron's Alex Bitsakis had 38 saves on 39 shots.

  • All-women's triathlon to open registration lottery

    SOUTH PORTLAND — The Tri for a Cure, Maine’s only all-women’s triathlon, will begin its annual registration lottery on January 31.

    “We’re thrilled to invite everyone back for our sixth year,” said Julie Marchese, Tri for a Cure race director and long-time cancer survivor. “We’ve worked hard to expand the event but there’s still a limit to how many athletes the course can fit. We think the lottery is the fairest way to give everyone a chance.”

  • CMMC January-February health programs

    LEWISTON — Central Maine Medical Center’s Health and Fitness Center is offering the following group exercise programs during its February cycle:

    Cardio Sculpting – This ongoing series combines low-impact moves with weight training targeting major muscle groups while addressing hard to reach spots. Tuesdays from 5 to 6 p.m. with Ian Barclay.

    Core and Sweat – This ongoing series led by Ian Barclay features weight training targeting major muscle groups while addressing hard to reach spots. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8 to 9 a.m.

  • Baseball Hall of Fame seeks nominations

    YARMOUTH — Founded in 1969, the Maine Baseball Hall of Fame honors players, coaches, umpires, organizers and benefactors from all corners of the state who have achieved prominence in, or made valuable contributions to, baseball in Maine.

  • Hebron hockey defeats NYA

    HEBRON — Hebron Academy boys' varsity soccer team hosted North Yarmouth Academy recently with a final score of Hebron 4, NYA 1.

    In the second period, Hebron goals were scored by Yannick Martel, assisted by Raphael Blouin, at 11:11 and Ollie Frenette, assisted by Bryan Parsons, at 6:19. For NYA, Chapman scored, assisted by Ackerman, at 2:27.

    Third period goals, both for Hebron, were scored by Blouin, assisted by Mike Kelly, at 10:18 and Matt Bouchard, assisted by Jackson Parker, at 9:47.

  • NPFG Fishing Derby set

    NORWAY — The Norway-Paris Fish & Game Association has set the weekend of February 23 and 24 for their annual ice fishing derby. The club opens the derby to all area lakes and ponds. Fish need to be weighed in at the Little Red School House on Norway Lake between the hours of sunrise and sunset.
