  • NP Fishing Derby winners

    NORWAY/PARIS — The Norway-Paris Fish & Game Association held the annual Ice Fishing Derby February 23 and 24. Proceeds from the derby go into the general fund and help send several area children to The University of Maine 4-H Camp at Bryant Pond.

    Winners:

    Brook Trout/Splake - adult, Leslie Peaco, one pound; junior, none

    Brown Trout - adult, Trevor Williams, 15 and a half ounces; junior, same

    Bass - adult, Caleb Hafford, four pounds 11 ounces; junior, same

    Pike - adult, Tim Larracey, nine pounds 10 ounces; junior, none

  • Norway ball signups set

    NORWAY — The Norway Recreation Department and Norway Youth Baseball are teaming up to offer registration times for baseball, softball and Tee-ball! Join in at the Norway Town Office on Thursday, March 7 from 5-6:30 p.m., Saturday, March 9 from 10 a.m. to noon or Wednesday, March 13 from 5-6:30 p.m.

    All parents are asked to attend one of these times to obtain important information for their child’s athletic activity. Registration forms only available at the sign ups.

  • Trout Unlimited to host Rod McGarry

    PARIS — The Mollyockett Chapter of Trout Unlimited will host renowned Maine fly fisher Rod McGarry on Thursday, February 21 in the basement hall of the First Congregational Church in South Paris, which is located on Route 117, just south of Market Square.

    Rod has gathered some of the skills, techniques, tackle and strategies that a recreational angler can learn from competitive fly fishing.
