  • Bridgton Ice Arena hours

    BRIDGTON — There is a lot of hockey being played, so there are some conflicts with typical public skating times. Come see some great hockey for free.

    Public skating will be held at the Bridgton Academy Ice Arena on Wednesday, December 19, from 12 to 2 p.m.; Saturday, December 15, from 12 to 2 p.m. and Saturday, December 22, from 6 to 8 p.m and Sundays, December 16 and 23, from 12 to 2 p.m.

    BRIDGTON — Public skating will be held at the Bridgton Academy Ice Arena on:

    Wednesday, December 12 and 18, from noon to 2 p.m.

    Saturdays, December 15, from noon to 2 p.m.

    December 22, from 6 to 8 p.m.

    Sunday, December 16 and 23, from noon to 2 p.m.

    The prices are $4 for adults, $3 for students in grades 1-12, $2 for children under six and seniors 62 or older and $4 for rentals.

    Conflicts do arise on occasion, so please call to confirm.

  • Elver lottery opens

    HALLOWELL — The Maine Department of Marine Resources (DMR) is now accepting applications for the Elver gear and Elver license lotteries for the 2013 elver season. Applications can be submitted online at www.maine.gov/elverlottery, or by visiting the DMR offices in Hallowell. Applications will be accepted until January 15, 2013 and the drawing will be held by February 15, 2013.

  • Witt swamp trail opens

    NORWAY — The community is invited to enjoy the newly created hiking trail at Witt Swamp Preserve on Sunday, December 2, noon to 3 p.m., on Pleasant Street in Norway.

    The trail loop, which enjoys the primarily hemlock uplands of the preserve, is approximately one-mile long and includes gentle slopes, stone steps and a short cedar boardwalk.

    HEBRON — Hebron Academy varsity football hosted Kents Hill recently with the final score Hebron 30, Kents Hill 37.

  • NPFG meeting canceled

    PARIS — The November 21 meeting of the Norway-Paris Fish & Game Association has been canceled. The December 19 meeting potluck supper will the usual Thanksgiving meal.

    Those scheduled to bring food in November will be bringing those items to the December meeting. The meeting will be at the clubhouse, 744 Buckfield Road in South Paris. Supper will be served at 6:30 p.m. with meeting to follow.
