  • Oxford Hills Vikings wrestling

    PARIS — Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School wrestlers are off to a great start for the 2012-2013 season. Not only do the Viking wrestlers have one of the biggest teams in many seasons, but they are having one of the most successful seasons in many years. To date the Vikings have 12 wins and 2 losses, just shy of the season's halfway mark.

    AREA — Western Maine Youth Basketball League girls' 5/6 games on Sunday, January 13 had the following results.

    Wilton 49 Turner 15

    Top scorers for Wilton were Renee Solis with 18 points and Mariel Damon with 10 points. For Turner, Georgia Brown and Julia White each had four points.

    AYS 37 Oak Hill 33

    Top scorers for AYS were Haley Turcotte with 20 points and Emily White with five points. For Oak Hill, Desirae Dumais had 10 points.

  • Mollyockett Trout Unlimited talk set

    PARIS — The January meeting of the Mollyockett Chapter of Trout Unlimited will feature a talk and fly-tying demonstration by Greg Ponte, former Chair of the Maine Council of Trout Unlimited and one of the founders of the Maine TU Trout Camp.

    The subject of his discussion will be the Trout Camp, which is held each year at the Evergreens Campground in Solon. Greg will also conduct a fly-tying demonstration.

  • Bridgton Ice Arena hours

    BRIDGTON — Public skating will be held at the Bridgton Academy Ice Arena on Sundays, January 13, 20 and 27, from 12 to 2 p.m.; Tuesdays, January 22 and 29, from 12 to 2 p.m.; Wednesday, January 16, from 12 to 2 p.m.; Saturdays, January 12, 29 and 26, from 2 to 4 p.m. and on Martin Luther King Day, January 21, from 12 to 2 p.m. Stick and Puck times will be Sundays, January 13, 20 and 27, from 3 to 5 p.m.

  • New Balance warming hut grand opening set

    NORWAY — There will be a Grand Opening of the New Balance warming hut on Friday, January 11, from 6-8 p.m. Thanks to the New Balance Foundation, the popular ice rink located on Cottage Street now has a warming hut!

    Other partners include the New Balance Community Connection associate volunteers, Oxford Hills Technical School Building Technology class, R. E. Lowell Lumber, Flanders Electric, Swett Signs Inc., Nick and Sharon Barker, Mike and Chris Twitchell, Dead River Co. and countless individual volunteers.
