    • Buckfield loves Boston

      BUCKFIELD — Buckfield Jr/Sr High School class of 2015 is hosting a 5k run/walk Saturday, June 15, starting at 9 a.m. and and ending at 11 a.m. The race will start at the Buckfield Town Office. The majority of the proceeds will benefit ONEFUND Boston to help the families involved in the 4/15 Boston Marathon attack. Registration is online at RUNREG.com/NET/3599.

    • Challenger British Soccer Camp comes to Harrison

      HARRISON — Attention all youth soccer players in the Lakes Region and Oxford Hills area and beyond! Challenger British Soccer Camp returns to Harrison's RADR Sports Complex August 5-9.

      Camp for ages six to eight is from 9 a.m. to 12 noon and costs $115. Camp for ages nine to 14 is also from 9 a.m. to 12 noon and costs $115. First kicks camp for ages three to five is from 4 to 5 p.m. and costs $64.

    • Backcountry Cycle Challenge welcomes Tinker Juarez

      CARRABASSETT VALLEY — The Town of Carrabassett Valley announces the third annual Carrabassett Backcountry Cycle Challenge (CBCC) to be held at the Sugarloaf Outdoor Center in Carrabassett Valley. This is a three-day event with activities scheduled from Friday, July 12, through Sunday, July 14.

      This year's competitive events will include a 100KM and 50KM race. Both of these events will be held on Saturday, July 13. Friday night includes a spaghetti dinner and autograph session with Tinker Juarez. Sunday's events include a kids fun race and guided rides for the entire family.

    • First round of "Champions Cup"

      PARIS — The first round of the "Champions Cup" was played on Sunday, June 2 at Paris Hill Country Club. Summit Springs has the early lead with 10 points, Norway's second with 7 1/2 points and defending champ Paris Hill is in third with 6 1/2 points. The next match is at Norway Country Club on July 14, and the final match will be at Summit Springs on August 25.

    • Booster club keeps Oxford Hills' youth athletics alive

      OXFORD HILLS —  Since 1977, the Oxford Hills Athletic Boosters have been vital in keeping Oxford Hills sports programs alive through promotion and financial support, says the president of the club, Tracie Stevens. 

      "The Oxford Hills Booster Club [is] so valuable to the athletic programs in SAD 17 as they provide our teams with funding that is not available through the budget," explained OHCHS Athletic Director Jeff Benson.
