  • Harrison's 11th annual 5K Run by the Lake

    HARRISON — Runners to walkers, families, friends, kids, groups and campers of all ages - it's time to get ready for the Harrison Parks and Recreation Department's 11th Annual 5K Run By the Lake, to be held on July 10 at 7 p.m.

    Registration is $13 by July 1 or $18 after July 1 ($3 off for Harrison residents). Free t-shirts will be given to the first 100 pre-registered racers.

  • Kendall and Anna Ham Recreation Complex grand opening planned

    BRIDGTON — Please join in on Saturday, June 1 for the Grand Opening and ribbon cutting at Bridgton's Kendall and Anna Ham Recreation Complex, located on Route 302, next to Lampron's.

    There will be a public breakfast at 7:30 a.m.; cost is $5 per person.

    The ribbon cutting will take place at 9:15 a.m., followed by dedication of the fields. There will be baseball (Minor, Major and Babe Ruth) and softball games throughout the day; lacrosse games will start at 10 a.m. and go until 3 p.m.

    A public lunch will be held at 11:30 a.m.; cost is $5 per person.

  • Moose Permit Lottery deadline quickly approaching

    AUGUSTA — The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife is reminding all hunters that the deadline to apply for the 2013 Maine Moose Permit Lottery is less than three weeks away. Prospective moose hunters have until 11:59 p.m. on May 14 to apply for the permit lottery online. The online application can be found at www.mefishwildlife.com.

  • Class A champs

    CLASS A CHAMPS — Members of the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School Girls Combined Ski Team were honored with a special legislative sentiment at the State Capitol recently. The team recently captured the Maine State Class A championship. Members of the Alpine Ski Team are Colleen Stauder, Amanda Hanning, Annika Kahkonen, Miranda Murphy, McKayla Ivey, Ellen Bessette and Coach Mike Grace. Nordic Team members include Eva Gabrielsen, India Lucas, Moriah Lee, Julia Dillon, Mary Bryce, Alyssa Andrews, Emily Cormier and Coach Chris Easton.

  • Competition to benefit Wounded Heroes

    WATERFORD — In conjunction with the Wounded Heroes Program of Maine and the Waterford Fish and Game Association, Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School seniors Ryan Bolduc and Aaron Tremblay will be hosting a “Rifles for Heroes Shooting Competition” for their high school senior project. The competition will take place on Saturday, April 27, starting with a safety briefing at 9:30 a.m. The competition will commence at 10 a.m.
