  • DECMA to hold meeting and show

    NORTH WINDHAM — The Down East Country Music Association, Inc. will be holding their membership meeting and "Winter in the Country" show on Sunday, January 9, 2011. The meeting starts at 12 noon and the show starts at 2 p.m.

    This event will be held at Club 302, Route 302 in North Windham and is open to the public. Donation is $5 for the show.

    Music will be provided by many of Maine's talented musicians and performers. There will be a 50/50 drawing and raffles. Food and a cash bar will be available.

  • 'Winter Wonderland' concert planned

    OXFORD - Grace Fellowship Church, located on Poplar Street in Oxford, will be hosting a "Winter Wonderland" concert on Saturday, December 18, at 6 p.m. Teresa Foye will be one of the many singers who will be performing that evening. There will be a time of refreshments and fellowship downstairs after the concert. There is no charge for the event; however a free will offering will be taken during the evening.     NORWAY - There's something to jingle the interest of most holiday shoppers in the Commons Art Collective's new December show.

  • Forestdale School presents cantata

    BRYANT POND - The Forestdale Christian School (grades K-8) will be presenting a Christmas Cantata entitled: "The Christmas Party-The Backyard Bunch." It will be held at the Woodstock Seventh Day Adventist Church, located at 43 Perkins Valley Rd. in Bryant Pond. There will be two separate performances: Friday, December 17 at 6:45 p.m. and Saturday, December 18 at 10:45 a.m. All are invited to come and join in and the students sing and tell a story reminding people of Jesus, the little baby born in a manger in Bethlehem.

  • Artists of Western Maine at The Phoenix House and Well

    NEWRY — The Phoenix House and Well is pleased to announce the opening of "Over the River and through the Woods: Maine Views at The Phoenix House and Well", a group exhibition of established and emerging artists connected to the Western Maine area. Paintings, prints and photographs are on display on the second level by Barbara Traficonte, Suzanne Hardy, Ron Hamilton, Irina Kahn and Veronica Cross, who also serves as curator for the show. The artists have been selected from the Western Maine Art Group, a collective that has been active for over 40 years.

  • Lovell Historical Society's Christmas open house

    LOVELL — On Sunday, December 19, from 1 to 4 p.m., the Lovell Historical Society will be holding a Christmas Open House at the historic 1839 Kimball-Stanford House. As part of the festivities, the Kimball-Stanford House will be decorated for the holidays and the museum exhibit will be open, featuring a display of local artifacts. An assortment of holiday "goodies" will be offered in the Bakeshop along with free refreshments to all. Several local artisans - such as Harvest Gold Gallery, Old Stage Farm and Hilltop Handspun - will be selling their wares.

  • The Oddfellow Theater to present 'Bah Hoonchbach a Very Odd Christmas Carol'

    BUCKFIELD - The Oddfellow Theater in Buckfield will present "Bah Hoonchbach - a Very Odd Christmas Carol" on December 16, 17 and 18 at 7:30 p.m. with matinees on the 18th and 19th at 2 p.m. Tickets for matinees are $8 for all ages. Tickets for evening shows are $14 for adults, $12 for seniors and $8 for children 12 and under.

  • Open auditions for Children’s Chorus

    GORHAM - Do you know a child who loves to sing? The Southern Maine Children’s Choir is auditioning new members for its spring performance.
