  • Mahoosuc Arts Council awarded $2,100 grant

    BETHEL — The Mahoosuc Arts Council was awarded a $2,100 grant from the Davis Family Foundation to fund an innovative theater residency project designed to provide the K-5 students of SAD#44 opportunities to develop new skills through the study of theater craft. The project, which will host the Children’s Stage Adventures of Maine (CSA) at Crescent Park Elementary from January 17-22, is a collaborative project between the Council and the Friends of Crescent Park (FCP). The project will culminate with two public performances at the end of the residency week.

  • Oddfellow Theater to present Dickie Hyper-Hynie's Rockin' New Year's Eve

    BUCKFIELD — The Oddfellow Theater in Buckfield will present two performances of Dickie Hyper-Hynie's Rockin' New Year's Eve on Friday, December 31 at 7:30 and 10:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 all seats

    Once again Dickie Hyper-Hynie (a.k.a. Mike Miclon) will be joined by Fritz Grobe, Casey Turner, Shane Miclon, Aaron Dewitt and many more on a wild night of comedy and surprises.

  • La Fanciulla del West to be broadcast at center

    FRYEBURG — "La Fanciulla del West," by Puccini, will be broadcast live at the Leura Hill Eastman Performing Arts Center on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 1 p.m. Puccini’s wild-west opera had its world premiere in 1910 at the Met. Now, on the occasion of its centennial, all-American diva Deborah Voigt sings the title role of the “girl of the golden west,” starring opposite Marcello Giordani. Nicola Luisotti conducts.

  • DECMA to hold meeting and show

    NORTH WINDHAM — The Down East Country Music Association, Inc. will be holding their membership meeting and "Winter in the Country" show on Sunday, January 9, 2011. The meeting starts at 12 noon and the show starts at 2 p.m.

    This event will be held at Club 302, Route 302 in North Windham and is open to the public. Donation is $5 for the show.

    Music will be provided by many of Maine's talented musicians and performers. There will be a 50/50 drawing and raffles. Food and a cash bar will be available.

  • 'Winter Wonderland' concert planned

    OXFORD - Grace Fellowship Church, located on Poplar Street in Oxford, will be hosting a "Winter Wonderland" concert on Saturday, December 18, at 6 p.m. Teresa Foye will be one of the many singers who will be performing that evening. There will be a time of refreshments and fellowship downstairs after the concert. There is no charge for the event; however a free will offering will be taken during the evening.     BRYANT POND - The Forestdale Christian School (grades K-8) will be presenting a Christmas Cantata entitled: "The Christmas Party-The Backyard Bunch." It will be held at the Woodstock Seventh Day Adventist Church, located at 43 Perkins Valley Rd. in Bryant Pond. There will be two separate performances: Friday, December 17 at 6:45 p.m. and Saturday, December 18 at 10:45 a.m. All are invited to come and join in and the students sing and tell a story reminding people of Jesus, the little baby born in a manger in Bethlehem.
