  • Take a trip back in time at Norlands this summer

    LIVERMORE -- Throughout July and August, the Washburn-Norlands Living History Center will be open every Tuesday and Thursday between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. for “Living History Tours”.
  • Ronnie Earl coming to Fryeburg Academy

    FRYEBURG — Ronnie Earl and the Broadcasters will be performing live at the Leura Hill Eastman Performing Arts Center on Friday, January 28 at 7:30 p.m.

  • Schoolhouse auditions announced

    STANDISH — Schoolhouse Arts Center is announcing auditions for "Rowan and Martin’s Laugh In." You can bet your Bippy that auditions will be held for one day only, on Tuesday, January 18, from 6 to 9 p.m.

    Sorry, all parts are for 17 and older. (They’re talking old.) Call backs will be Wednesday, January 19 at 6 p.m.

    Directed by Keith Halliburton, they will be re-creating the award-winning comedy show from 1969. Don’t let the "Fickle Finger Of Fate" prevent you from being a part of this fun-filled show.

  • Open Mic Night celebrates nine years

    NORWAY — The Norway Open Mic Night will celebrate its ninth anniversary on Friday, January 28 at the First Universalist Church, 479 Main St. in Norway. Sign-up for performers begins at 6:30 p.m., and the open mic begins around 7 p.m. Admission is $3 and refreshments are available.

  • City Theater schedules auditions

    BIDDEFORD — City Theater will hold auditions Monday and Tuesday, January 11 and 12, at 205 Main Street in Biddeford. Open auditions for "Edges," a contemporary song cycle, start at 6:30 p.m. They will be casting two men and two women.

  • The Maine Steiners performing in Raymond

    RAYMOND — The Maine Steiners, performance singing group from the University of Maine, will be giving a concert at the Raymond Village Community Church, 27 Main Street in Raymond, on Wednesday evening, January 5 from 7 – 9 p.m.

    This concert is part of the group’s week-long tour throughout Maine that culminates in their performance at the Governor’s inauguration. The Steiners are the premier male a cappella group at the University of Maine. Their primary objective is to entertain audiences with a wide range of a cappella arrangements and choreography.

  • Players announce auditions for 'Guys and Dolls'

    POLAND — The Poland Players will host auditions for the popular musical "Guys and Dolls" January 11-12 from 4-7 p.m. in the Dr. Robert Wall Theatre located at Poland Regional High School, 1457 Main St. in Poland. Performance dates are March 16-19. The show requires a large cast and members of the community are encouraged to audition. Individuals should be prepared to sing a short song and/or read from the script. The production is also looking for dancers, musicians and technical assistance.

  • 'Painting the Town' at Gallery 302

    BRIDGTON — Gallery 302 will be hosting an exhibit by members of the Bridgton Art Guild entitled "Painting the Town" January 3-28. The Bridgton Art Guild is made up of artists and art lovers from many different towns, so artists will be showing images of hometowns from Bridgton and Naples to Lovell, Poland, Denmark, Sebago, Conway, Portland and others. The small towns of New England have a charm all their own and we expect a variety of lovely and meaningful works in a variety of mediums.

  • Portland String Quartet to perform at Fryeburg Academy

    FRYEBURG — The Portland String Quartet has been performing, teaching and recording with its founding members since l969. In 1986 they were proclaimed "Maine treasures" and awarded Honorary Doctor of Music degrees at Colby College where they served as Artists in Residence for 20 years. The quartet also has served as Artists in Residence at LaSalle University in Philadelphia, PA.
