  • 'Glimpses of Maine' at Norway library

    NORWAY — Norway Memorial Library is currently exhibiting prints by Poland artist Joan Bellucci. Joan is both a practicing artist and an art teacher. She is a graduate of Emmanuel College's Fine Arts Degree program, and over the years continued her education at Massachusetts College of Art, Framingham State College, the Worcester Crafts Center, the Boston Fine Arts Museum School and the Decordova Museum School.

  • The Met: Live in HD on February 12

    FRYEBURG — "Nixon in China" will be broadcast live at the Leura Hill Eastman Performing Arts Center on Saturday, February 12 at 1 p.m. “All of my operas have dealt on deep psychological levels with our American mythology,” says Pulitzer Prize-winning composer John Adams, whose most famous opera has its Met premiere. “The meeting of Nixon and Mao is a mythological moment in world history, particularly American history.”

  • London’s National Theater presents King Lear

    FRYEBURG — The Donmar Warehouse, in collaboration with the National Theatre, presents Artistic Director Michael Grandage’s production of Shakespeare’s "King Lear" at the Leura Hill Eastman Performing Arts Center on Thursday, February 3, at 7:30 p.m.

  • Valentine Cabaret planned

    DENMARK — For the last eight years, a selected group of talented performers from the Singers Workshop at the Denmark Arts Center has created revue shows celebrating Valentine's Day. This year another new show under the direction of Lillian Lee Morse (at the piano) will blossom on Friday and Saturday, February 11 and 12, at 7:30 p.m. at the center, 50 W. Main St. in Denmark. The cast represents both the Art Center and Mt. Top Music Center in Conway.

  • Young artist on display at Café Nomad

    ARTIST AND TEACHER – Silas Gordon is having an art show at the Café Nomad in Norway from February 1 - 28. He has been drawing since the age of two. Emma Day Branch, his art teacher, helps him decide which drawings will be on display.

  • Concert to benefit food pantry

    NORWAY — A free concert will be held Saturday, January 29 at 6 p.m. at Norway Church of the Nazarene, 10 Grove St. in Norway. A love offering will be collected for the food pantry, helping those in need. The needs of the community are becoming greater. Please come enjoy the concert and an opportunity to help feed your neighbor. There will be fellowship with a meal following the concert. For more information, call Pastor Shawn at 393-7960.

  • Annual meeting at arts center

    SEBAGO LAKE — The Schoolhouse Arts Center at Sebago Lake will be holding its annual meeting on Tuesday, February 15, at 6:30 p.m. at Schoolhouse. This meeting is open to the public and those attending will be voting on new membership.   • Oddfellow presents Buckfield Unplugged

    BUCKFIELD — The Oddfellow Theater in Buckfield will present Buckfield Unplugged on Saturday, January 22 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $14 for adults, $12 for seniors and $8 for children 12 and under.

    Oren Robinson, leader of the Oddfellow Theater's Early Evening Show Orchestra, will host a variety of musical performers for a night of amazing music. Oren will present original music mixed with his own versions of old spirituals, classic country, folk, and few pop songs. Joining Oren will be members of the Ale House String Band, Skosh, The Early Evening Show Orchestra and more.

  • OHMPAA auditions scheduled

    NORWAY — Auditions for Oxford Hills Music and Performing Arts Association’s (OHMPAA) first show of the 2011 season, "Run For Your Wife," a British farce by Ray Cooney, will be held Monday, January 31 and Tuesday, February 1 at 6:30 p.m. at the Rowe School, Main Street, Norway (please use rear entrance and look for signs).

  • Community Chorus sings again

    SOUTH PARIS — After a holiday break, the Oxford Hills Community Chorus eagerly begins singing again. Formed in September of 2010, the group decided to forego a holiday concert and took a break. On Thursday evening, January 20 at 6:30 p.m. the group will meet upstairs at the First Congregational Church of South Paris, across from the Fox School. Dan Allen and Faye Hill will be welcoming back established members and anticipating new ones.
