Juried show at Harlow Gallery going green
Feb 03, 2011 12:01 amHALLOWELL — The Kennebec Valley Art Association invites artist submissions to Art2011, the 16th annual juried show at the Harlow Gallery in Hallowell. Art2011 is open to all Maine artists and to any artist with a strong connection to Maine. Original fine art in any media may be submitted, including hand pulled prints, photography, and sculpture. Crafts are not eligible. Each artist may submit digital images of up to three works of art. $1,300 in cash prizes will be awarded, plus gift certificates from area business sponsors.
Nominations sought for Poet Laureate

Chamber chorale needs sopranos, all voice parts
Feb 03, 2011 12:01 amPOLAND — Cantus, a community-based chorale group from the Poland area, is seeking new members. Cantus sings primarily sacred music and mixes in classical works seasonally. The group performs music in a wide variety of genres from ancient to modern. Cantus produces music suitable for church services and also public performance.
The choir was started in the fall of 2009 by Poland resident and longtime musician Daniel Mickool. The project has been modeled after the British choral tradition. Chorus members are from the local community and range widely in age and interests.

Artists sought for Norway Arts Festival
Feb 03, 2011 12:01 amNORWAY — Calling all artists - the Norway Arts Festival is seeking artists and artisans for the 44th Annual Norway Arts Festival, to be held Saturday, July 9, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (rain date July 10).
The Western Maine Art Group (WMAG) will again be overseeing the art show this year as a co-sponsor of the event along with Norway Downtown, which manages the variety of musical, theatrical and dance performances as well as food vendors and community booths. Public officials have again approved the road to be closed to enable a pedestrian mall from 258 to 450 Main Street.

In recent years, films like The Exorcism of Emily Rose and The Last Exorcism also showed us the possibilities of bringing a person out of a demonic possession. The Rite is the latest film in that category, but also offers questions on how an exorcism can be done and if the devil does exist.
Famed swordfish captain, author to visit Bethel

WMAG to hold annual meeting

This will be a breakfast meeting to share events, issues, socialize and to see plans for the coming year. A speaker is also included and there will be a raffle for door prizes. In addition, bring and share your artwork. There will be a table for displaying your art. Please come and voice your opinions and be part of the group’s future.
Calling all artists for the Moore Park Art Show

The day will feature 60 artists and artisans with live entertainment and fine fare. The event, presented by the Town of Paris Parks and Recreation Department, is sponsored by the Western Maine Art Group and the Mahoosuc Arts Council.

The new site features a full history covering 43 years of history of the show, a slide show of past winners and performers, FAQ’s, a Google map, exhibitor and vendor applications, volunteer information and much more.
