  • Winter ARTirondack Chair Auction benefits arts council

    BETHEL — A special winter ARTirondack Chair Auction, on Saturday, February 26 at Sunday River Resort's Peak Lodge, will feature the winter-themed designs and art work of local artists on seven chairs handcrafted by Reggie Brown.

    The Auction will be held during the Sunday River Wine Dinner which begins at 7 p.m. Guests will experience a one-of-a-kind fine dining experience at 2,100 feet after a Chondola ride to North Peak. Spanish and South American fare will be featured along with special wines.

  • Open Sky Farm plans music, dance event

    SUMNER — Cirque de Pisces, an evening at Open Sky Farm, will be held Saturday, February 19 at 6 p.m. Cow Pasture Productions has been creating events, art, music, books and demonstrations, in resistance to a world of commodification and conformity for 22 years, challenging the programs responsible for the imbalance that surrounds us and working with artists, musicians, activists, farmers, and parents to create a new vision.

  • Chamber quintet featured Valentine weekend

    BETHEL — A romantic evening of chamber music will be presented by the Mahoosuc Arts Council Saturday, February 12 at 7 p.m. at the Trustees Auditorium at the McLaughlin Science Center on the Gould Academy Campus.

    Dan Perkins, professor of music at Plymouth State University, invites four friends to join him in performances of masterpieces in piano quintet repertoire: Johannes Brahms, "Piano Quintet in F minor" and Amy Beach, "Piano Quintet in F# minor. "

  • Evening of Bach offered at Hebron Academy

    HEBRON — Hebron Academy presents "An Evening of Music by Johann Sebastian Bach" on Friday, February 11, with a performance by classical musicians Ian Watson, pianist, and Jan Muller-Szeraws, cellist. The performance is a presentation of the Cohen Chamber Music Concert Series, sponsored by the Saul B. and Naomi R. Cohen Foundation.

    The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Androscoggin Theater in the Lepage Arts Center in Sargent Gymnasium, and is free and open to the public. Parking will be available in the Athletic Center lot, off Route 119 on the Hebron campus.

  • RPC welcomes people for benefit

    SOUTH PARIS — Again this year, Responsible Pet Care Animal Shelter will present an Animal Shelter Benefit Show. The Benefit Chorus will rehearse on Tuesdays starting on February 15 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the OHCHS music room. There will not be a rehearsal on February 22, which is during school vacation.

    This year will feature guest performers including four-legged special guests. Auditions for animals will be held later in March with the help of Kanine Kare workers.

  • DECMA presents Valentine show

    MECHANIC FALLS — A "Country Valentine Show," presented by the Down East Country Music Association, will be held Sunday, February 13 at the Silver Spur, Route 121 in Mechanic Falls. The show starts at 12 noon and doors open at 11:30 a.m. Admission is $5 for members/seniors, $6 for nonmembers and $2 for kids under 12.

    Entertainment will be provided by the Tennessee-bound DECMA 2010 Award winners. A snack bar will be open and there will be a 50/50 drawing and raffles.

  • Hebron Academy presents Jesus Christ Superstar

    HEBRON — The Hebron Academy Players will present the rock opera classic Jesus Christ Superstar by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice in the Androscoggin Theater of the Lepage Center for the Arts in Sargent Gymnasium on Friday and Saturday, February 25 and 26 at 7:30 p.m.

    The annual Hebron musical is directed by Julie Middleton,with musical direction by Beth Barefoot.

  • Brush and Pen art documentary at Fryburg

    FRYEBURG — Imagine New Hampshire’s White Mountains during the 19th century: where artists came to create America’s first landscape paintings; where writers composed some of America’s famous poetry and prose; where railroads brought visitors to grand hotels and adventurous people came to experience the natural beauty of these mountains and climb its highest peaks.

  • Tricky Britches to appear

    BUCKFIELD — The Oddfellow Theater in Buckfield will present The Early Evening Show on Friday and Saturday, February 4 and 5 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $14 for adults, $12 for seniors and $8 for children 12 and under.

    Hosted by Michael Miclon, The Early Evening Show is one part late-night talk show, one part improv show, one part music show and ten parts funny. It has been called "a seamless hilarious production" by The Bangor Daily News and "Must see reality!" by CBS Sunday Morning.
