  • "Thumbs Up" at Oddfellow Theater

  • Local artist chosen for Art Show

    SOUTH PARIS — Known for capturing the interesting and historic architecture of the region, artist Cynthia Burmeister of Paris has been chosen as the poster artist for the 2011 Moore Park Art Show. Her newest watercolor of Market Square will be featured on the poster for the show, which will take place on August 13 (rain date August 14).

  • Artists wanted for auction

    NORWAY — You are invited to submit your best for the support of the renovation of the Lajos Matolcsy Arts Center. They are looking to fund their share of the $25,000 towards the $150,000 historical renovation grant, applying as an important and significant building of Norway. They are working together with Norway to restore their share of the downtown. Please help with this wonderful endeavor by sharing your artwork and by attending this event. Help them and paint, draw, watercolor, or photograph your favorite subject; send them your contribution!

  • Maine Drawing Project

    FRYEBURG — Check out the new exhibit at Fryeburg Academy’s Palmina S. and Stephen F. Pace Galleries of Art entitled “Above and Below the Line: The Maine Drawing Project." The exhibit will run from March 26 through April 29. The Pace Galleries are free and open to the public, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. The gallery is also open during most performances in the Leura Hill Eastman PAC, or by appointment.   • Jorgenson Quintet

    FRYEBURG — Fryeburg Academy is bringing back The John Jorgenson Quintet on Thursday, April 14 at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors and $15 for students; group rates are available to groups of 10 or more.     PARIS — The Hamlin Memorial Library & Museum is currently accepting vendor applications for its annual Founder's Day event, which will take place on Saturday, July 16.   • Inspirational comedian comes to area

    OXFORD HILLS — Comedian Judson Laipply will be performing on April 7 and 8 for Oxford Hills Comprehensive High school, Telstar Middle and High and for Gould Academy. On Thursday morning, April 7 at 9 a.m., the presentation at the Gould Academy Bingham Auditorium will be open to the public on a first come, first serve basis at no cost.

  • OHMPAA's newest production

    OHMPAA'S NEWEST PRODUCTION — Oxford Hills Music and Performing Arts Association's first production of the 2011 season runs April 7, 8, 9 and 10 at the Norway Grange. "Run For Your Wife" is about a taxi driver who gets away with having two wives in different areas of London because of his irregular working schedule. Injured while foiling a robbery, the cabby plays off two neighbors, two police officers and a newspaper reporter as he tries to keep his double life from exploding. Tickets are available at Books-N-Things.

  • Arts Festival dinner planned

    NORWAY — A fundraising kickoff for the Norway Arts festival called "Let the Dough Fly!" will be held on Friday, April 8, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church at 479 Main Street in Norway. The event features a homemade meal of pasta, sauce (with or without meat), salad, focaccia and desserts as well as live entertainment by Kale and Ezrah Churchill - multitalented kids playing piano, stand-up bass and percussion. The Norway Arts Festival is co-sponsored by the Western Maine Art Group (WMAG) and Norway Downtown.
