      DENMARK — The Denmark Arts Center is looking for any and all interested in volunteering for the annual waterfront music festival “The Dam Jam.” Though not for many months (the awesome fest is going to be on July 27), they are already trying to organize volunteers as they will definitely be needed.

    • The Incredible Burt Wonderstone (New Line Cinema)

      The Incredible Burt Wonderstone reunites comedy superstars Steve Carell and Jim Carrey again.

      They both made us laugh in Bruce Almighty and Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears A Who. While magicians were taken more seriously in The Prestige and The Illusionist, this is more of a fun spoof on the success and fall of magic in the city of Las Vegas.

      If you never thought magic would be so funny, you'll be quite surprised.

    • Family-style comedy is coming to Bridgton

      BRIDGTON — The Friends of the Bridgton Public Library are pleased to be hosting a night of live entertainment at the Magic Lantern Theater. New England comedian Jim Colliton will be performing on Monday, April 22 at 7 p.m.

      Jim’s clean, family-style comedy has put him in demand all over the country from Las Vegas to Dixville Notch, NH.

    • Professional training for young actors offered

      LEWISTON — This summer, The Public Theatre, Lewiston/Auburn's Professional Theatre, will offer a professional theatre training program for young actors, July 8-26.

      If you know an experienced young performer wanting intensive theater training, or a "raw talent" looking to channel their creativity and imagination, this high quality theatre program is for them.

      Taught by theatre professionals, with professional standards and insights, this challenging and inspiring program is a unique alternative to traditional "drama camps."

    • Grant awarded for jazz quartet

      BETHEL — The Mahoosuc Arts Council has been awarded a grant for $2,700 from the New England Foundation for the Arts through the New England States Touring Program to support the presentation of Syncopation, an a capella jazz quartet sensation from Boston. Syncopation will perform in April as part of the council’s annual Gould and Telstar Performing Arts Series.

    • Call for artists for Norway Arts Fest

      NORWAY — The Norway Arts Festival, featuring the 46th annual Sidewalk Art Show, is calling for a broad spectrum of artists and artisans to exhibit their original creations on Saturday, July 13. Artists are being sought to represent both 2D and 3D art works in painting, drawing, printing, photography, wood, metal, glass, fiber, jewelry, furniture and more.

    • Milltown Road Show concert

      PARIS — The Milltown Road Show will hold a concert on Thursday, April 4, at 7 p.m. at Deering Memorial United Methodist Church in South Paris. The cost will be $8 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. Tickets are available at Books N Things in Norway and at the door. Proceeds will benefit the Tower Fund.

      The concert will feature a selection of roots, Americana and original songs. Come share this musical journey.

    • Oz the Great and Powerful (Walt Disney Pictures)

      The fantasy world of Oz,created by L. Frank Baum, in his 14 popular children's books from the early 20th-century, is most remembered by generations of film fans by the 1939 MGM movie musical The Wizard of Oz.

      Only one other film explored the land of Oz a little more, and that was Disney's 1985 "sequel" Return to Oz.

      This year, the studio once again tackles the classic fantasy land with its own prequel that explores the origins of the title character in Oz the Great and Powerful from Sam Raimi, director of the Evil Dead and Spider-Man trilogies.
