Apr 04, 2013 12:00 amSTATE — As Earth Day approaches, the Natural Resources Council of Maine (NRCM) is inviting Maine elementary school age kids to create images of a pollution-free world, in honor of Earth Day and Rachel Carson’s contribution to a cleaner environment.
The artwork may be in two colors and up to 8.5” by 11” and will be featured in a slide show on NRCM’s website at www.nrcm.org.

'Serving Up' a little more than just Broadway
Apr 04, 2013 12:00 amBROADWAY – Allison Whitney is surrounded by her new friends, and together they sing "Getting To Know You" from The King and I, part of the original musical review "Serving Up Broadway." The show is a 40-year retrospective of the history of the Oxford Hills School Community Broadway Show. Performances are April 5 and 6 in the Mark S. Eastman Auditorium at OHCHS.

Apr 04, 2013 12:00 amFRYEBURG — View the fascinating new exhibit featured at Fryeburg Academy’s Palmina S. and Stephen F. Pace Galleries of Art entitled "Mark Baum, Painter (1903-1997): A Retrospective." The exhibit will be on display from the present through Saturday, May 18. The galleries are located at 18 Bradley Street on the campus of Fryeburg Academy in Fryeburg. The Pace Galleries are free and open to the public, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. The gallery is also open during most performances in the Leura Hill Eastman PAC or by appointment.
Let the Dough Fly, feed the festival
Mar 28, 2013 12:00 amNORWAY — Tickets are on sale now at Books N Things for the Norway Arts Festival kickoff dinner on Friday, April 12. “Let the Dough Fly” will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Church at 479 Main Street in Norway from 5:30-7 p.m.
The menu will consist of pasta with homemade sauce, meat or vegetarian, focaccia, salad and dessert. Tickets are $10, children under 10 accompanied by an adult eat for free.

May 9 — Hartford-Sumner Elementary School ensemble concert at 6:30 p.m.
May 15 — Middle school spring concert at 6:30 p.m.
May 22 — High school spring concert at 6:30 p.m.
Irons to dance in Brazil
Mar 28, 2013 12:00 amAREA — Debi Irons and DJCyphon have been invited to perform in the International VIVADANCA Festival in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil on April 10, thanks to a last-minute video submitted with Kristen Searles singing in Portuguese taped by Steve Galvin of NPC-TV and Christian Ricci on lights.
Also performing April 10 will be some young dancers they worked with last spring at the Federal University School of Dance in Bahia.
At the same time, the two are launching A Creative Exchange to promote collaboration among artists.
Buckfield presents West Side Story
Mar 28, 2013 12:00 amDANCE AT THE GYM — Maria (Elizabeth Perry) meets Tony (Jonathan Randolph) at the dance in Buckfield Jr./Sr. High School's production of West Side Story which opens March 29 and runs the 30th, April 5th and 6th at 7 p.m. and April 7 at 2 p.m. The cast and crew of 40 middle and high school students have been working diligently since January on this Leonard Bernstein adaptation of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Tickets are $5 for students/seniors and $8 for adults. Tickets are available at the Buckfield High School main office. FMI/Reservations 336-2151.
