Arts Center meeting set
Jan 17, 2013 12:00 amSTANDISH — The Schoolhouse Arts Center in Standish will hold its annual meeting on Tuesday, February 5. Anyone interested in the future of the Arts in the community is encourage to attend the meeting.
The focus of the event will be to report on the Schoolhouse activities of 2012, discuss goals for 2013, and elect a Board of Directors for the year ahead. Anyone interested in participating in the Board of Directors for 2013 should contact the Schoolhouse by February 1 at schoolhousearts@fairpoint.net.
Auditions for Serving Up Broadway! set
Jan 17, 2013 12:00 amPARIS — Kyle Jordan, Chairman of the Oxford Hills School District Music Department, is proud to announce auditions for an original Broadway musical review entitled “Serving Up Broadway!”
The show, which will include one song from the 20 well-known musicals performed biennially in the Oxford Hills since 1974, will take place April 5-6 in the Mark S. Eastman Auditorium at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School.
January artists at CMMC
Jan 17, 2013 12:00 amLEWISTON — The works of a Hebron photographer and artwork produced by the Lewiston Housing Authority-sponsored Youth Enrichment Program are on display at the Central Maine Medical Center Woman’s Hospital Association (WHA) Rotating Art Gallery until January 28.
Beth Francis, a graphic artist, has had a life-long interest in photography. After taking up digital photography around 2006, she came to a realization about her style.
Competition opens for young musicians
Jan 10, 2013 12:00 amMEXICO — Young & Free Maine, a program created by the Maine Credit Union League, is asking to hear from Maine musicians ages 18-25 for their Second Annual "Sound Off" Music Competition.
"Sound Off" entrants must be between 18-25 years of age (in the case of bands, at least one member must be between 18-25), and must not be under a recording contract. Entrants will submit an audio or video recording of themselves singing or performing original music to a special page on the Young & Free Maine website, YoungFreeMaine.com.
Innovative show honors Native American art

For Kim Emmons of Norway, this experience happened many times. This month, at the Fare Share Commons, she shares her love of the art of the First Nations with her community.
The show, “Honoring Native American Art: Paintings, Maps, Drawings & Collected Art” is dedicated to Emmons’ father, David Bradley, and to her maternal aunt, Mary Craig McLane.
Applications available for Art in the Park

There are many excellent spots still available for this juried show which attracts thousands of visitors each year who enjoy a leisurely day of talented artists, music and food. The show will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the opening of Gallery 302 at 112 Main Street.
OHMPAA auditions are scheduled

One of Neil Simon's lesser known comedies, "The Good Doctor" is a collection of Anton Chekhov short stories, as retold and staged by Simon.
