  • SMH patients and staff enjoy the art of Suzanne Hardy

    NORWAY — Western Maine Health President and Chief Executive Officer Timothy A. Churchill has announced that Norway artist Suzanne Hardy is currently exhibiting her work at Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway, a show which will remain through the month of May.

  • West Paris Library art display

    WEST PARIS — The West Paris Library will present a display of watercolors and etchings by Greenwood artist Joanie Kintz, beginning on May 31. Joanie grew up in California, where she learned to draw at an early age. She explored many mediums through local college classes, including oils, acrylics, etching and sculpture. Eventually, she settled on a preference for watercolors. Joanie moved to Maine in the late '90s.

  • Lovell Brick Church rings in new summer season June 2

    LOVELL — Silent for many years because of structural decay, the sweet old bell in the steeple of the Brick Church for the Performing Arts is about to ring again to celebrate the complete restoration of the fabric of the historic building. From top to bottom, belfry to foundation, the Brick Church is healthy and looking forward to its eighth season of programming.

    “Ring in the Belfry!” on Sunday afternoon, June 2, at 2 p.m. will open the 2013 performance series with a concert of handbell music, choral singing, and a hymn sing to be shared by all present.

  • Waterford Fair 2013 dance schedule

    NORTH WATERFORD — Now that spring is officially here in Western Maine, it must be time for the Waterford World's Fair Saturday night dances. Lisa Scribner, organizer, has made all the calls to the many different bands that will be performing. The first dance night will be June 2 with the 43 North Band which is the premiere Modern Country dance band. All dance nights are held at the Waterford World's Fairground Dance Hall located at 36 Green Road in North Waterford (across the road from Melby's Market on Route 35); they all start at 8 p.m. and admission is $10 per person.

  • Fetchko artwork at NML

    FETCHKO ARTWORK AT NML — The Norway Memorial Library invites the public to come and view a collection of art work on loan from Francoise Fetchko. Francoise, pictured with a seascape titled “Waiting for the Storm,” spent her youth in France, and now lives and works in Bryant Pond. She prefers to paint from reality and photographs. This display may be seen any time when the library is open and will remain on view through May.   • Jury date set for 38th annual Lovell Arts & Artisans Fair

    LOVELL — The 38th Annual Lovell Arts & Artisans Fair will be held on Saturday, August 17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at The New Suncook School, 95 Main St. in Lovell. This fair attracts upwards of 1400 people, and has gained an excellent regional reputation among residents, summer visitors and artists themselves, many of whom return year after year! It is free and open to the public, with ample off-street parking. It is handicapped-accessible. Homemade sandwiches, desserts and beverages are available for purchase.
