    NORWAY — The Norway Center Church welcomes Reverend Helen Beglin of Westfield, NJ as guest minister on Sunday, August 26 at 10 a.m.

    Music will be provided by Anne Bernard, organist and David Knightly, violinist.

    All denominations are welcomed. Please join in for coffee and refreshments after the service.

    This will be the final service for the summer!

  • Hymn sing, social set

    WATERFORD — "The hills are alive with the sound of music." Come to Waterford Congregational Church on Wednesday, August 22 at 7 p.m. and pick favorite hymns to sing. All are welcome.

    Bring family, friends and neighbors for an evening of singing and greeting old friends as well as meeting new people.

    Waterford Congregational Church is located at the foot of Plummer Hill right up the road from the village green in Waterford Flat.

  • Singspiration is scheduled

    OXFORD — Hosanna Church will be hosting the next Singspiration on Sunday, August 19, at 6:30 p.m.

    Participants sing, play an instrument or do a reading. Group hymn sings are interspersed among the program. Refreshments and fellowship time follow.

    Singspiration takes place every three months at different area churches. Hosanna Church is located on Schoolhouse Road in Oxford.

  • Church grant to preserve collections

    AUGUSTA — Maine State Archivist David Cheever today announced First Universalist Church of Norway UU will receive $839.90 to preserve and provide better access to its historical collections as part of the Historical Records Collections Grant Program.

    The program is administered by the Maine Historical Records Advisory Board, with funds from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission. The grant program is coordinated by the State Archives.

  • Youth event set at state park

    PARIS — The First Congregational Church Youth Group invites children age seven to 12 and their families to join in for a Family Lakeside Picnic on Saturday, August 11, from 4-6:30 (ish) p.m.

    Children and their families should gather at the church's Haskell House at 4 p.m. After some get acquainted activities, they'll go together to Range Pond State Park for water fun, picnic and outdoor games.

    Please bring flotation devices, sunscreen and a picnic dish to share. They'll supply plates, cups, cutlery, drinks, assorted chips and marshmallows for roasting.

    Music will be provided by Marion Howe, pianist, and Tom Curtis, soloist.

  • Spiritual Healing scheduled

    HARTFORD — Pinpoint of Light Spiritualist Camp will present Spiritual Healing, with Kenneth Green, MPI, on Sunday, August 12 at 1 p.m.

    Kenneth Green recently completed the Morris Pratt course for Spiritual Healers and is in the process of obtaining certification as a Commissioned Spiritualist Healer with the National Spiritualist Association of Churches.

    He has had extraordinary results in his development as a healer and will share those stories as well as techniques that are effective in healing work. A $15 donation is suggested.

  • VBS held

    NORWAY — The Norway Baptist Church family enjoyed a week of Vacation Bible School with family fun for ages five to adults for the week of July 9 to 13. There were 84 registrants and the theme this year was the Wild, Wild West. Charlie and his puppeteers performed each night.

    His program offered songs, a missionary story about Hudson Taylor and individual and team competition. A total of $200 was collected to assist two missionary families which the Norway Baptist Church has committed to help supporting.
