    WEST PARIS — The days are shorter, breezes a little chillier, a perfect time to enjoy the warmth of community at the First Universalist Church of West Paris. Services are presented with a combination of guest speakers and Worship Service Committee members. All are welcome to attend; 9 a.m. Sunday services are followed by refreshments.

  • Apple Fair set at West Auburn Church

    AUBURN — The West Auburn Church will celebrate the apple in all its forms from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 29 at the West Auburn Congregational Church.

    The event will include a luncheon and a raffle with some of the finest pies to come out of this part of Maine. The 2012 Apple Fair is being held in honor of recently passed long time members and close friends to the church, Betty O’Connor and Janice Rand.

  • Campbells in concert at Bridgton church

    BRIDGTON — The Campbells, Maine's first family of Gospel music, will be in concert at the Bridgton Alliance Church, 368 Harrison Rd. in Bridgton, on Sunday, October 7 at 9:30 a.m.

    The Campbells are a full-time Gospel music ministry from the state of Maine. Their music legacy spans over 30 years. They travel extensively throughout the United States and Canada, and have released numerous recordings.

    They have appeared on both local and national television and Gospel singing cruises. Come enjoy this exciting evening of Southern Gospel music.

  • United Parish still standing

    HARRISON — On September 1, the United Parish, Congregational Church of Harrison and North Bridgton had a fire which started overnight in the area of the dehumidifier and dishwasher.

    The actual cause has yet to be determined, but people who were coming into the church to work at a public breakfast that morning opened the door and out came black smoke. They shut the door and called 911.

  • Events planned at Spiritualist Center

    HARTFORD — Sunday services at the Pinpoint of Light Spiritualist Center have returned to 10:30 a.m. at the Hartford Town Hall, 1190 Main St. in Hartford.

    Kenneth Green will present a Spiritual Healing workshop on October 7 at 12:30 p.m. at the Hartford location. Participants will explore important components necessary for healing, including preparation, receptivity, expectations, follow-through, contact healing, absent healing and trust. Ken has been involved in healing for three decades.

  • Afterschool pizza party for teens planned

    SOUTH PARIS — First Congregational Church of South Paris is hosting a Pizza Party for area teens on Monday, September 24 from 2- 5 p.m. Feel free to drop in and grab a slice of pizza, or munch on fresh fruit and veggie platters.

    Come and go as you please. Play basketball, take advantage of craft supplies and assorted games, or just hang out with friends.

    Free pizza, fruit, veggies, beverages will be available for any teen in grades seven-12 in the church kitchen.

    United Parish

    HARRISON – On Sunday, September 23 at 10 a.m. the United Parish Congregational Church of Harrison and North Bridgton begins a new year of Sunday School, and they invite area children ages four to 12 to join them and share Bible stories, games, music, art, crafts and much more.

    The first Sunday is also the fall church picnic at Crystal Lake Park after the service, so plan to join in for a cookout.

  • Clothing give away slated

    NORWAY — On Saturday, September 22 from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. there will be a free clothing give away at the Norway Grange Hall.

    Having had a very successful give away in April, Deering Memorial United Methodist Church and Bolsters Mills United Methodist Church have teamed up with the Norway Grange to offer this event, coined as the 3-C Give away, providing free clothes, cookies and coffee.

    There is also a limited amount of new socks and underwear as well as school supplies.

  • New group beginning at West Paris church

    WEST PARIS — The West Paris Baptist Church is pleased to announce the formation of a group that will foster wellness for anyone searching for faith based support.

    The group is intended for those facing the challenges of grief, loss, addiction, codependency, and abuse issues. They are dedicated to finding ways to change those challenges into possibilities.

    Meetings will be held every Tuesday evening from 7:30-8:30 p.m. at the West Paris Baptist Church. All are invited. Meetings will begin on October 16. Light refreshments will be provided.
