Nov 24, 2010 12:00 amOXFORD HILLS - The holidays can be a tough season for people, especially those with children - Resistance Ministries holds its auction Saturday, December 4, to help out.
Each year, the group holds two auctions to help families in need, many of whom are identified by members of the Ministry, the Box program and Youth Music Ministries, says the organizer, Barry Lowe, although anyone can nominate a family through the ministry. This year, the event will be held at the Oxford Recreation Department building. In years past it was held at the Hosanna Church, in Oxford.
Trinity Lutheran Church to hold Advent fair
Nov 24, 2010 12:00 amSOUTH PARIS — An Advent fair will take place from 8 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 4, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 34 Buckfield Road in South Paris.
A large array of gifts, decorations, household items and more will be on sale — something to please everyone. There will also be a bake sale featuring Finnish coffee bread and other pastries. You are also invited to sit and enjoy a coffee break with a variety of refreshments.
St. Peter's announces cookbook sale
Nov 24, 2010 12:00 amBRIDGTON - The folks at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Bridgton are famous for the food they offer at potluck meals, coffee hours and public suppers. Now the parishioners have compiled their favorite recipes along with a few stories into a cookbook entitled "Food for the Soul." In "Food for the Soul" you'll find recipes for appetizers, soups and stews, salads, main entrees, vegetables, breads, desserts and this and that. Some of these are family recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation. All are "delish."
Marsden to speak at South Paris church
Nov 24, 2010 12:00 amSOUTH PARIS - "Buddhism, My Spiritual Path to Inner Peace" will be the sermon topic of Ms. Cynthia Marsden, the worship leader at the 10 a.m. service of the First Universalist Church, 36 Pine Street in South Paris, Sunday, November 28. Ms. Marsden comes from a bitterly divided protestant family. While being "greatly disturbed by religious communities that exclude and even sabotage other communities," she "began an interest in comparative religions as well as a wariness of their exclusivity." She has been a practicing Buddhist for about 20 years.
Casco church presents concert

West Paris church hosts Thanksgiving dinner

The dinner will include turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, squash, peas, creamed onions, Harvard beets, mapled carrots, rolls, butter, apple, pumpkin, chocolate creme and lemon pies and coffee, tea, milk or cider.

Holiday craft fair and raffle in Norway
