  • Christmas services planned at Casco church

    CASCO - The Casco Village Church United Church of Christ, Route 121 in Casco Village, invites everyone to join in this Christmas and share in God's gracious and extravagant welcome in this open and affirming church.

    On Tuesday, December 21, take "A Christmas Breath" at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary - a time of quiet peacefulness to think about what is in your heart at Christmas...with quiet music playing, candles lit... an atmosphere for taking a breath.

  • A Blue Christmas service

    OTISFIELD - The East Otisfield Free Baptist Church will be holding a special service this year for people who are finding it difficult to experience the joy and hope of the holiday season. For many, this season is filled with difficult times, humps to get over, gatherings to endure, a variety of pressures and a flood of memories and feelings that dampens the days and seeks to steal away the light within the soul.

  • 'Music of Advent' featured at Paris church

    SOUTH PARIS - "Music of Advent and Christmas" will be the focus of the 10 a.m. worship service at the First Universalist Church, 36 Pine Street in South Paris. This December 12th service will feature the choir, Renee Wales, flutist and Forest Perkins, church organist. The congregation will participate as well. The Coffee Hour will follow in Good Cheer Hall. All are welcome.

  • Thanksgiving baskets go to local families

    HARRISON - The Deacons of the United Parish Congregational Church of Harrison and North Bridgton, with help from the Harrison Food Pantry, coordinated the purchase and distribution of 73 Thanksgiving food boxes to families in Harrison, Waterford and Sweden. These food boxes included a turkey, potatoes, onions, gravy, stuffing, rolls, canned vegetables, cranberry sauce, pie crust mix, apples, fruit juice and boxed dessert. Many of these families also received a Hannaford Food Box thanks to the Bridgton Food Pantry.

  • Moore-Leamon speaks at South Paris church

    SOUTH PARIS - Silver Moore-Leamon's sermon topic at the First Universalist Church, 36 Pine Street in South Paris on Sunday, December 5 is titled "Tis the Season to Be...." The service will begin at 10 a.m. with Forest Perkins directing the music and Renee Wales leading the Sunday School. The Coffee Hour will follow in Good Cheer Hall. All are welcome.

  • Trinity Lutheran Church welcomes worshippers

    SOUTH PARIS - Learn more about how "The Holy Spirit blows away our sins like chaff" by attending "Making the Old Story our Story" Bible study at 9 a.m. and Worship service at 10:15 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 34 Buckfield Road in South Paris on December 5, the Second Sunday of Advent. Worship service is followed by coffee, refreshments and friendly fellowship.

  • Boiled dinner to be served at Hebron church

    HEBRON - On Saturday, December 11 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. an acclaimed New England boiled dinner will be served at Hebron Community Baptist Church, Station Road in Hebron. The menu will include ham, potatoes, carrots, onions, cabbage, beets, turnip, homemade rolls and pies, coffee and tea. Cost is $7 for adults, $3.50 for children six to 12 and free for children five and under.

    Interested in a hymn sing? Join the group in the sanctuary at 6 p.m. following the supper.

  • Handcrafted quilt to be raffled

    QUILT RAFFLE - Raffle tickets for the beautiful "Old MacDonald's Farm" quilt, handcrafted by Norway resident Joanna Timerlake, will be sold at the Heifer Project Fair at the Second Congregational Church, UCC, 205 Main St. in Norway on Saturday, November 27. Proceeds will support Heifer Project International. The drawing will be held December 20.

  • Otisfield church to hold Nutcracker Fair

    OTISFIELD -The East Otisfield Free Baptist Church will host a Christmas Fair on Saturday, December 11 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., and on Sunday, December 12 , after the morning service. The fair gets its name from Polly Durant's nutcracker collection, which will be on exhibit at the fair. Mrs. Durant has been collecting nutcrackers for more years than she can remember. The collection boasts dozens of nutcrackers doing everything from fishing to merely standing still looking majestic. Mrs. Durant will be happy to discuss her collection with fair-goers.

  • Pot roast supper offered

    SOUTH PARIS — A pot roast supper will be held Saturday, December 4, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Deering Memorial Methodist Church at the corner of Main and Church streets in South Paris. The cost will be $8 for adults and $4 for children under 12. The supper also includes chocolate fudge brownies and ice cream for dessert. There is ample parking behind the library and the town office.
