  • World Day of Prayer is Friday

    SUMNER — Women, men and children in more than 170 countries and regions will celebrate World Day of Prayer on Friday, March 1. The women of France, this year’s writer-country, have chosen the theme “I was a stranger and you welcomed me.”

  • Christian Motorcycle Assoc. welcomed

    PARIS — Deering Memorial United Methodist Church invites everyone to join in as they welcome the local Christian Motorcycle Association (CMA) at the 10 a.m. service on March 10.

    The group will be sharing the history of the Christian Motorcycle Association and their efforts in outreach and missions along with sharing personal testimonies.

    NORWAY — Join the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Norway on March 3 as the minister Rev. Fayre Stephenson offers a sermon about body image and the religious traditions contributing to discontent with our physical selves.

    Rev. Fayre Stephenson has been serving the church for several months and recently became their Called Minister. Fayre has previously been Program Director at Ferry Beach and minister of the Foxborough Universalist Church in Massachusetts.

    YOUTHFUL — January 27 was an exciting adventure at Oxford Hills Christian Fellowship. It was the first "Youth Sunday" of the year. Darn Grover illustrated hi lesson with his ice fishing equipment and made the point of how God works with us. We are expecting more incredible happenings on "Youth Sunday" each fourth week of the month.

    NORWAY — The First Unitarian Universalist Church of Norway is please to present Maine farmer, author and itinerant Quaker minister, Jennifer Wixson. Rev. Wixson has been a regular guest speaker at both the 1st Universalist Church of Norway and the West Paris Universalist Church for more than 12 years.

    PARIS — The churches of Deering Memorial United Methodist Church and Bolster’s Mills United Methodist Church invite everyone to join in their combined Ash Wednesday Service at the Deering Memorial UMC at 7 p.m. on February 13. The Pastors and congregations from both churches will lead the service that will include the imposition of Ashes, Holy Communion, reflective readings and a symbolic burning of old habits/practices and a commitment of new living.

    NORWAY — The First Unitarian Universalist Church of Norway is pleased to present Brigid Whitney-Gallagher as a guest speaker. Brigid is a local writer and poet. In addition to writing, she works with children who have disabilities. Brigid was born and raised in the Oxford Hills and now lives in South Paris with her young son.

    WEST PARIS — The public is invited to join in for Sunday worship services at the First Universalist Church of West Paris, which are presented by guest speakers and Worship Service Committee members.

    NORWAY — Dreaming of a church wedding? The congregation of First Universalist Church of Norway invites all same sex couples, who have dreamed of church weddings, to consider celebrating their vows in the beautiful historic sanctuary of First Universalist Church at 479 Main Street, Norway.

    “We join everyone who supported the equal marriage ballot question in rejoicing over the passage of this important act which became law on December 29th,” said Gay De Hart, chair of the First Universalist Church board of directors.
