  • Spiritualist Camp summer events set

    HARTFORD — Pinpoint of Light Spiritualist Camp will hold its 2012 summer program from July 15 to August 26. Services and activities will be held at 546 Town Farm Rd., Hartford. In the event of inclement weather, activities will be conducted at the Hartford Town Hall, 1190 Main St. (Rt. 140) in Hartford.

    Every Sunday morning there will be a healing meditation at 9:45 a.m., followed by a devotional service at 10:30 a.m.

  • East Sumner church to hold VBS

    EAST SUMNER — The Congregational Church of East Sumner is holding Vacation Bible School for area youth in grades K-six the week of July 23-27 from 9 a.m. to noon.

    The theme for the week is "Heroes of the Faith." The Spotsylvania, VA, Presbyterian Church will be sending 16 members of its youth group to help with teaching, singing, crafts and games.

  • Events planned at East Sumner Church

    EAST SUMNER — Pastor Howard MacMullen invites the community to summer events and services at the Congregational Church of East Sumner on Rte 219.  

    Sunday services and Summer Sunday School start at 9 a.m. Children join worship for about 20 minutes and then go down for a story activity and garden work. Worship is followed by refreshments and Sermon Discussion.

  • The Norway Center Church

    NORWAY — On July 15, at 10 a.m., the Norway Center Church will begin its summer services at the church, which was built in 1840.

    The Norway Congregational Society was about 50 years older than this church building. Many of the first pioneers to come to Norway, in the 1780s, were members of The Puritan Congregational Order in other communities in Massachusetts from where they came.

  • Vacation Bible School starts

    NORWAY — Norway Baptist Church, located on 12 Cottage Street, will be having a family daily Vacation Bible School from July 8 to 13. Charlie Chandler of Kings Kids International will be conducting the evening program from 6 to 8 p.m.

    The theme this year will be "Wild, Wild West" and will include puppets, games, prizes and refreshments as well as Bible story time.

    Ages six years through adults are invited and families are encouraged to attend with their children.

  • Second Congo sets summer schedule

    NORWAY — Beginning July 1 and continuing through Labor Day, summer worship time at Second Congregational Church will be 9 a.m. The nursery will be open during the service for your convenience. Sunday School will resume in the fall. During the summer, various guest musicians or soloists will appear at the church. On July 1, Claire Lupien, granddaughter of organist Elaine Emery, will play the flute and sing for the congregation.

  • Bell Tower celebration at Waterford Church

    WATERFORD — All are invited to attend a Service of Celebration at the Waterford Congregational Church on Sunday, July 1 at 9:30 a.m.

    Before, during and after the service those who gather both outside and inside the church will hear the ringing once again of the historic Revere bell housed in the completely restored tower.

    Please join in as the church recognizes the generosity of Waterford's extended community and rejoices at the success of this ambitious undertaking.

  • Free Bible studies set

    AREA — Group or one-on-one Bible studies are available in the Old and New Testament. Topics can range from “Does God Exist?” to “The Reliability of the Bible,” to “Introduction to Christianity,” to any book of the Bible.

  • Bible school is planned

    OXFORD — Summer Olympics is the theme for the Vacation Bible School program this month at the Oxford Advent Christian Church, Route 26.

    The five-day program runs from 6 to 8:15 p.m. June 25-29 and will feature Bible stories, crafts, games and songs. The school is for youths ages three to 13.

    NORWAY — The Norway Unitarian Universalist Church services for Sunday, June 24 will be at 11 a.m. Visitors are always welcome. Child care is provided.
