  • Food Bank gets donation

    SUMNER — The Sumner Food Bank recently received a check for $100 for food from the NAIW (National Association of Insurance Women). Marianne Todd, of Sumner, presented the check to Violet Bragg Enman, the Food Bank manager.

  • NSB recognizes employee achievements

    NORWAY — Norway Savings Bank recently held its Annual Employee Awards Banquet to celebrate the employee’s achievements and successes of 2012. This evening event focused on recognizing individuals and departments for their accomplishments by Senior Management.

    2012 Employee of the Year

    Nancy Stroud, security administrator, was named 2012 Employee of the Year. Stroud received this award for her many accomplishments throughout 2012. David Wyman, Chief Operating Officer, presented her with the award.

  • Round Table on network marketing set

    NORWAY — Oxford Hills SCORE and the Oxford Hills Chamber of Commerce are please to announce a business round table discussion on Effective Network Marketing.

    The program will be presented on Wednesday March 27, from 8 to 9 a.m. at the Norway Town Office, 19 Danforth Street in Norway. The speaker will be Janice Davis, co-owner of Kings Hill Inn in South Paris. Janice has significant marketing experience and is a superb networker.

    HONORED — Recently members of the local BNI group attended the BNI annual awards banquet at Martindale Country Club.  The Successful Business Partners BNI group voted for Brian Hamlin, Metropolitan Life Auto and Home Insurance, left, as the Member of The Year.  He is president of the local group and leads by example.  Tally Decato, Reliv International, was voted for the Givers Gain Award for going above and beyond helping members in the group.

    NORWAY — Timothy A. Churchill, president and chief executive officer of Western Maine Health, is pleased to announce that Lisa Miller, MD of Western Maine Family Practice was recently named to the list of physicians earning a three-year recognition from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) through the Heart/Stroke Recognition Program (HSRP), beginning in January 2013.

    GATHERINGS –   Nellie Dennison, the owner of Gatherings Antiques, Gifts and Home Decor, stands in her space at the Norway Opera House. Gatherings will hold its grand opening March 22 and 23.

  • White completes training

    OXFORD — Frances M. White, LCSW has recently completed training as a Certified Divorce Mediator through Conflict Resolution Training, Inc., Johnston, RI.

    Mediation is a process where conflict is minimized and an uncontested divorce agreement may be completed in as few as three sessions. Fran has been a clinical social worker for 30 years and has also had training as a Guardian ad Litem and a CASA volunteer.

    She has also recently published "Positive Parenting Simplified," a short workbook for effective and positive parenting.
